Checks consistency of mid-section.
Nope, too doughy to be spun sugar.
I'm awake due to the combined efforts of Harvey and a supervisor at one of my locations looking for someone to work now (overnight person having symptoms of passing a kidney stone and wants to go to ER). Thankfully, they've found someone who can get there much sooner than I.
Eek. Poor Matilda. Poor parents.
Small humans are so weirdly tough, though -- a bit of hugging and some hairpats and the nightmare had receded solidly into the past. Hec handled all of it, and it was so fast; he went to get her a glass of water, and I was going to get up and hairpat her until he returned, but she was conked back out and snoring before he was two steps down the hall.
Harvey must be delighted with the unexpected late-night company. I'm glad you don't have to stagger all the way up and out at this hour, though!

There is something extra-special about snuggling with a cat who recently got up from a heat grate after the furnace stopped blowing. Warm kitty, soft kitty, indeed. And I was going to offer to go in later, after Daniel went off to his shift, to relieve the supervisor who is going in right away. But someone else can do it an hour sooner.
My cat is using the ginormous cat tree I got him last week. (6 platforms, two "caves", and 9 poles that should double as scratching posts.) On one hand, yay playing with the purpose-built object instead of the box it came in. On the other hand, I probably should have waited on warmer weather for this. I miss my lap warmer.
We finally have snow forecast! First time this winter. 2-4 inches possible tonight--yay!
and I am up until the queasy adrenalin levels drift back down.
Sigh, that sounds like my 4 am too. Hope you got back to sleep, JZ.
The sellers agent sent out a very snippy e-mail today telling our agent that her sellers are getting tired. I mean how dare we actually expect her to actually have asked all the questions we asked of her seller the first time. She is still under the impression that she is selling a turn key house, despite the fact that the inspection shows this not to be the case. So, we're going to go to an open house today in case we have to walk away from all this craziness.
Gah, sj. I'm sorry this process is so fraught and you're dealing with such assholes. Lots of continued ~ma to you and TCG.
I've got a few things to do at the house and then I'm heading up for a crazy day of parades. Woo.
sj, may you find an even better house with reasonable seller and agent. Turn your nose up at the one you've been wrestling with and let them try to find someone who wants the house enough to go through the nonsense they're handing out.
Poor wee sellers. Someone should just throw them money so the poor darlings can get some rest.
Yeah, right.
