Ok, so how do I ask? Call? Email? I need a script, I hate this kind of thing!
Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Breakfast today (right now, what? I sleep late):
Jalapeno/cheddar bagel grilled (no toaster, Foreman grill instead) with cream cheese, peppered turkey slices, sliced sweet onion, and fresh roma tomato slices.
Also, salary ~ma meara! No advice on how to handle it, I suck at that too.
meara,
before your got the job, did you have an idea of what kind of salary you wanted? is there a way for you to find out how much others are making salary wise?
I am of the opinion that most places offer a salary (in professional positions) that are suggestions and that you should come back with a figure that is 5-10% higher than that.
In terms of language:
Thank you very much for the offer, I am very excited about the possibility of this position. The salary quote is a bit lower than what I was expecting, I was wondering if a higher salary was negotiable?
The above might sound too tentative (my first drafts often do), but what if you start there and see what they say?
Have a figure in mind in case they ask in response.
Yeah, that's about what I was planning, le n. thanks!
meara, always ask for more. If you need specific language help, text or call me. Congratulations on the offer! This salary is what all future salary raises and bonus are based on and you'll never have another time where you have such leverage than before you start.
le n. and javachik rock the negotiating. Good luck on the job front, meara!
Good luck with the house, sj!
Good luck with your salary negotiation, meara!
I survived another work week, hallelu.
I survived another work week, hallelu.
Yay!
Congratulations on the job, meara! Good luck with the negotiations.
We have a new offer in. They have until dinner tomorrow night to get back to us.
meara, all they can say is no. I negotiated for more money, and they gave some of what I asked for, plus another concession (which I later found out they would have paid for anyway, but it felt good at the time :) ) I was terrified, especially since I was out of work at the time, but I decided to go for it.
