Water cooler weather talk: It is sunny but cold here today. I have the fire going (the SO stoked it this morning before he left, bless him) but that means that the heater doesn't kick on. This is good for economy, but means that all rooms not containing the woodstove are colder. Like the bedroom. Or, more importantly at the moment, my office. Honestly, it's not many rooms because of the open design of our house. But my office is a closed room, at the farthest end away.
So I keep working and then deciding I'm too cold and going in to hang out by the fire. I could just carry my laptop in there. But when I'm in there, I get all sleepy and comfy and want to take a nap. Except if I were to nap, the bedroom would be cold and I would wake up and decide I needed to work. And then I would still be cold and go hang out by the fire. And fall asleep. This is not a productive cycle.
we do that in rainstorms. Which is the reason I'm scared to ride in the rain...not the rain, the mystified idiots wondering what the moisture is.
Of course, when I was a kid, streets got more flooded without those gutter things.
I went to Trader Joe's at lunch, and I expected it to be packed with yuppies trying to stock up on 2-Buck Chuck and mandarin orange chicken before the White Death, but there was actually just a normal amount of people there.
But it is raining like a motherfucker right now, and gusty wind. If it turns to snow right now, we will be screwed. It's 37 degrees, so we're not far off, damn it. I may leave early. I don't even want to deal with the first snowfall at rush hour.
my mom is so sad our closest tj's closed.
she likes two-buck chuck.
(Only enough to go to Yuppie Neighborhood every couple months)
But for other ridiculous petty stuff, like arguing with us about fucking GRAMMAR, then yes, we have all desperately wished we could reach through the internets and whack the author on the nose.
I have, in the past, threatened my tech writers with being smacked on the nose with a rolled-up copy of the style guide. They laughed, but they also made sure to read the damn style guide from then on.
Is anyone else having trouble with livejournal today? I keep trying to respond to other people, but I can't get livejournal to load.
sj, LJ is borked for me today too.
lj seems to be working for me, but I've just been reading over there. I didn't try posting.
