I called and Dean has an appointment on Friday. His activity level has been the same (prior to the coughing spell he and Penny were chasing each other back and forth the length of the apartment) and I think he's eating okay. Well he's eating things he shouldn't be so that's a good sign.

I also called and made an appointment for tomorrow for my car, the Maintenance/Check Engine light came on so I need to get that checked.

I really need to take Penny in for her shots (she doesn't have any) but I asked the vet when I called and they said it would be about $150 for all her shots and an exam. At this point she's 2 months behind all her vaccinations. She was underweight and then her former owner didn't take her in, and I kept thinking I'd take her in but ...stuff happened. So I'm going to talk to the vet Friday about a schedule for her vaccines.

Oh ish.

A sexual assault was reported New Years morning in Ann Arbor. Woman wakes up to a man having sex with her while another man watches. She has no recollection of getting from the club to the apartment she was in. The commenters on the story are ... well, sadly it seems, quite typical. She should have been more careful, she put herself in danger, who goes home with people they don't know, how do you drink that much and not have a plan for your own safety?

Really, people? Really?

The men were questioned but did not cooperate with police and so were released.

People suck.

The article mentions that drug test results or if the test has been done.

Another day in which I prove to myself that I SHOULD NOT READ THE COMMENTS IN CERTAIN STORIES.

B) I will hold off on my blaming-the-victim rant, as this audience does not need it.

They didn't cooperate SO they were released? Boy, that makes sense.

I have arrived home to the stomach flu. If this is my reward for putting up with The Girl's family in very difficult circumstances for ten days, then the universe and I need to have a little chat.

Aims, I'd look that up and use it in the Gender and Society class I teach, but I fear the students having the same reaction to the commenters. Perhaps I should use it anyway and allow myself the chance of being surprised.

Bears repeating.

So, today has been fairly sucktastic. Last year, Mickey (my cat) was diagnosed with a lung tumor. Lately, he's not been eating well, been lethargic, and his cough has gotten worse. Took him to the vet today (the 3rd time in 2 weeks) for another set of x-rays. It showed what I expected but not what I wanted. His tumor is bigger and the cancer has spread to lymph nodes in his lungs, too. At this point, we're treating his symptoms but it's just a matter of time before he declines. And I suspect a short amount of time. I'm not ready for this at all.
