Had to cancel a poster presentation I was meant to give at a postgrad conference at the end of the week, but it will be the day after I get home, and flying takes it out of me. Unprofessional, but there's not much to be done about it.
FTR, I don't think there's anything unprofessional about having to cancel something due to a family emergency. I hope nobody's making you feel bad about it.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.
My parents just called. My grandmother passed away this morning.
I think the good things are that she didn't have to go into a nursing home, which she would have hated, and she didn't have to know about her rings disappearing.
