What about allergy shots, Zenkitty? Are those feasible for you?
eeeeeee. Eventually I may be uncomfortable enough to overcome the needle phobia, but I'm not there yet!
Pepcid, thanks.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

vitamin D overdose
Did it make your skin really itchy with no visible hives or other symptoms?

SO ITCHY. But no hives. My face felt sunburned, but never got more pink than usual.
I wonder if that's the answer to the itch that plagued me for almost a year. Maddening itch, from my armpits to my knees. No other symptoms. Doctor couldn't figure it out. That's why I started taking Zyrtec. It worked - or else the itch just subsided on its own, who knows.

Ahhh. I didn't have a phobia, but it's not like I particularly enjoy needles. They weren't too bad.
I'm on 2000 mg of vitamin D, and suddenly glad I'm not itchy.

From everything I've read, you have to take a crapton, like 10,000 IU (not mg, by the way, which is an extremely important distinction) a day, for overdose to be an issue. The recommended daily dose has a safe upper limit of 4,000 or 5,000 IU. I'm just one of those people who is really sensitive to stuff. I can't even tell you the number of drugs I've had allergic reactions to.
I think I was on 10,000 IU perscription D because my D levels were so low, but it was one pill once a week for a month. I don't remember being any itchier than normal, but then again I'm always so damn itchy from allergies that I'm not sure I would even notice.

Well, 10,000 IU once a week would come out to less than 2,000 IU a day, which is well within recommended ranges.
And I think for people who are very deficient, doctors prescribe 50,000 IU either once a week or once a month, though for a limited time.
Again, you have to remember that I am a FREAK with paradoxical reactions to things that most people have zero problems with.
I've got sinus ick, and I've been taking Benedryl and NSAIDs. I'm debating going to the store tonight, rather than tomorrow (Pros: I will feel less judged by the people who are at Kroger at 11:00 PM than 11:00 AM. I can get decongestants [my shake-it-loose-then-flush-it-out plan is great in theory, bit, in practice, the pipes are too clogged, if you will] Cons: I would have to put on outside pants and drive a car.)
I may take another Benedryl (I've not needed more than 1 before, and rarely take any at all) and hope for the best.

Holy cow. I wonder if people glow when they're on that much.
