Our wings are not tired.

In Holt world news DH's basketball team has a big championship game tonight at 7:30. They are ranked 2nd in the state (1st in 7A) and they are playing against the first ranked team. It is really tough for public school kids to compete against the private schools because they are able to recruit and give scholarships. Trust me when I say no one goes to Blanche Ely HS unless it is their home school. The boys have done a fabulous job, as have their devoted coaching team. So send a winning thought towards my boys tonight. [link]

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

They're trying to get her into the same hospice facility that had my grandfather last year. My parents couldn't say enough good things about them.

black coffee

Just got this note from DH about the game -

We are playing at 7PM in the Championship Game against Montverde. It really represents the big money private schools who have hired a coach for $130,000 a year, one of the top Private School Coaches in the nation, and players from all over the world vs. Public Schools, who have kids from one area and a Coach paid a $2K supplement to Coach his team while teaching.

It is also Number 1 vs. Number 2 in the state. We have worked hard, but they have paid big money and recruited hard. It should be a good game.

The head coach is a teacher at the school, but they also have 6 assistant coaches that all volunteer including DH. They all take off work to go to the away tournaments too. They have no $, but they have community support and lots of heart.

I hope they are able to get her placed in the same facility, Dana. My experiences with Hospice have been wonderful. They are truly angels. I had in home hospice people when Stephen was dying and they would make me go to bed with promises and assurances that if he needed me they would wake me. If I got any rest it was knowing they really cared.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

And I've been getting frustrated with commenters on feminist blogs who are interpreting it as "Orthodox people hate women"

Thank God, most feminists in Israel understand it's a trap.

You have no idea what it like reading people I usually strongly disagree with about most values of and in life and agreeing with them. Because this time, it's not about the women. It's about hatred of the ultra-orthodox (which is strongly inserted into old school Zionism as well. They're the "Old Jew" we need to break away from to build Israel). And I will not blindly hate any social group, no matter how much someone's trying to scare me into this.

Yes, we, orthodox, secular, ultra-orthodox, Pastafarians, Israeli-Arabs need to rethink this entire country. But not with hatred.

Edit: Dana, I really hope your grandmother will be able to get into this specific hospice.

Shir, may your wisdom spread throughout the region. I know you are not alone, but so often the crazy voices are louder than the reasonable.

Our wings are not tired.

More thread spamming. This is my 4th day sick in bed, although I did shower this morning so that is progress. It is not so much that I am that sick, but I am a total lightweight on drugs. So to keep my head and chest under control I am a weak limbed space cadet.

I have put a nice dent in the DVR backlog. I think I wiped out 10 Leverage eps which makes for interesting dreams.

I have minimal guilt over neglected work, and a realization that I could stay in bed a month before I considered being bored. Today I may feel well enough to read since I figured out that the headache was caffeine withdrawal and applied coffee.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Thank God, most feminists in Israel understand it's a trap.

The other thing that drives me nuts on American feminist blogs, whenever there's a post about anything having to do with Judaism, is that the comments will inevitably get into a "The bible say this horrible thing, so anyone who believes in the bible must believe it, so these religious people are all clearly horrible people who believe this horrible thing," when, half the time, the thing they're citing is a clearly Christian interpretation of the verse that no one with any Jewish background would interpret that way. (And yes, there are plenty of verses that do sound horrible in the Jewish context. But these comment threads somehow always end up with way more of the ones where I can say, "No, that's not how Jews look at that at all.")

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Congrats and family~ma to P.-C.'s brother and his wife-to-be!

Okay, I've got shit to do. I need to get my lazy butt out of this comfy chair and get moving.

I swear, I am the laziest human on the planet.
