I just heard back from the doctor wrt the results of my latest round of thyroid testing - he's recommending doubling the current dosage of meds. I guess if what I'm on can make me tired when I'm supposed to be tired - enough to actually get to sleep - twice as much might possibly make me feel somewhat more energetic when I'm supposed to be awake. I hope.
I'll probably spend the rest of my life wondering why it takes 20 seconds to find a doctor to prescribe appetite suppressants chemically related to amphetamines, but 20 years to find a doctor who thinks it is rational to test thyroid function by testing thyroid function.

Nora, none left, I don't think. I have my 1st appt with a psychiatrist today, but I'm guessing asking for a side of Flexeril wouldn't go well. I took a hot bath, and managed to pop it back in with a belly dance move, but it's gotten worse today. Can't twist at all. So I may be headed to urgent care after my psych appt. Yayes.

WS: I'm glad you have a doc who is doing the correct testing on you. I will say, based on my experience, you will be adjusting your thyroid meds for the rest of your life. It took a good year for me to get to the right dose and I get little tweaks every 6-12 months.

My experience has been the same. My thyroid meds get tweaked every few years, not every few months, but they get tweaked regularly.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I thought the standard test for thyroid function is to test TSH. Often when you test the thyroid directly you get results in the normal range when in fact TSH is working way too hard to keep the thyroid functioning.
