Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

amyth and I ended up in the Wendy's drivethrough that night behind someone who took ten minutes to place a $40 order, and then another five minutes to pay and receive the order. We wondered at our foolishness in hitting up a fast food restaurant on 4/20.

this gave me QUITE a chuckle. dare we ask what YOU were doing there?

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I made the mistake of not drinking enough out with my ruggers, and was dead sober arguing gun rights laws with a drunkass redneck (her word) lesbian MP rugger alum. All my old girls went to a snobby restaurant/bar I hate and I ended up with alums I really don't know well. My mood shifted downward and I decided I'd much rather be hanging with amyth than trying to get to know people who are super drunk.

And I was hungry so we went through Wendy's. Sorry, not that good a story.

But boyo, were there some good stories at brunch this morning. Spooning under a car, three people carrying someone out of a taxi, epic bad dancing, and other assorted shenanigans from last night and legends of years past.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

is anyone doing low sodium diet?

next question: how the fuck do you manage it? sodium is in everything.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I imagine you have to make a lot of stuff from scratch at home, because processed food (soups, etc) have a ton of sodium in them so they can last longer on the shelf.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

le nubian, what Teppy said, and especially avoid anything that says it is "low fat", like low fat cheeses, they all have much more sodium than the high fat varieties.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I need to cut sodium and it is fucking impossible.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Yeah, is tough to cut sodium, especially while keeping flavor. If you're cooking at home, you might want to explore herbs--rosemary and thyme add a lot of flavor without sodium. Also pepper (red or black), citrus (lemon and lime, juice or zest) and cooking with wine add flavor. There are a number of no-salt spice combos by Mrs. Dash [link] I don't cook with them, but I've heard that others like them. There are also low sodium salts, usually substituting potassium, but I don't know how they'll fit your nutritional needs. [link] My parents used those briefly, but they always seemed to have a bit of an aftertaste to me.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

If you're cooking at home

The thing is, if you are cooking at home, you are taking out a huge hit of sodium just with that one thing. It's not salt for flavor, it's sodium as a preservative and as a hidden ingredient. Depending on how much you are restricting, you can salt at home. It's the abuse of sodium that is often an issue, not just salt. Salt actually keeps us alive in smaller quantities.
