Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I third the, "It looks so spacious" sentiment. Of course, every empty place looks like that, but I really like the way the kitchen and living area are connected.
That's great for entertaining.
My kitchen is at the opposite end of my very long apartment from the dining table, so parties and visitors seem to cluster in the kitchen.
In me news, I seem to have potentially talked my way into taking over as the precinct captain in my neighborhood for the Board of Elections.
I don't even know what to think about that.
As I mentioned a bit ago, I decided not to complain because systems are the way they are for a reason and I have been so disillusioned with the local government that I just sighed and moved on.
When they said they would follow up I just thought, Yeahright. Sighed and moved on.
Today, I had an encouragingly productive (40 minute) conversation with a young man who TOTALLY gets the problems and wants to make the process better.
I have said that I want to be part of something wonderful. Maybe this is it.
Or. If the system _doesn't_ change and they don't replace the captain, I will at least feel as though I contributed what I could to the dialog.
It's put a smile on my face. Now, I need to CLEAN ALL THE THINGS.
I need to clean all the things, too, and yet here I sit in the comfy chair. Because it's a lovely spring Saturday, and if I'm not going to curl up with a book, I ought to be out playing in the park, not scrubbing the bathroom. Heavy sigh.
I'm sad that I don't have cleaners anymore. Once I pay off this credit card debt, I'm hiring them again. Because dang, they were worth it.
I've been slacking with JZ and Matilda off to Reno, so I forced myself to get up this morning, shower immediately, shave, take out the garbage, do some dishes and even wash the floor behind the garbage can before I made coffee this morning.
Still have more dishes to do though.
Yes, I really liked the way the kitchen and living room are connected. I think it adds to the open feeling.
I am currently attempting to do stuff like change my address and decide which boxes should go first. (I had though I was going to move via the front door and had staged things thusly but now I think that the side door works better. . . )
I am alternating between tasks. Clearing space from the DVR included. Laundry, dishes, tv, work, reading, making Easter favors. I can't seem to focus on one thing for long, but this works out since I have a long a varied list to accomplish.
So DH was all furious and raging and cursing because he had forgotten that he needed to bid on a piece of equipment on eBay this morning that he will never ever have a chance at again, curse, slam, yell. Of course he knows that he is supposed to tell me when he needs to win a bid and I take care of it. Oh well. Give me 5 minutes and I find the same thing for half the price. Yeah, without the rage and emotion part. Just the find a solution thing. Sigh. Crisis averted.
Then in cool news! A mourning dove has decided the top of my fishing shed is the place to set up residence. I kept hearing his coo right outside my bedroom window so I went outside to investigate and found him happily sitting on top of the shed in a plastic container holding beach ball paddles. The dog would prefer that they find a new home. Or better yet the dog would prefer to have them for lunch.
Give me 5 minutes and I find the same thing for half the price. Yeah, without the rage and emotion part. Just the find a solution thing. Sigh. Crisis averted.
You are super, woman!
Thanks, bonny. He knows this is one of my superpowers, but for some reason didn't let me know he needed this equipment. He was most appreciative.
I need to get back to work. Really.
Your new place looks nice, sumi! I hope the move goes smoothly.
I took a walk and picked up some groceries enroute. I suppose I could clean, but it's lovely out today. Tomorrow's supposed to be rainy and gray, so that's probably a better cleaning day anyway.
So, I'm in the process of moving my cable service. . .stymied by needing to update Java.
Well, I can't disconnect 'til Monday and they won't restart 'til Thursday.
Luckily I can watch SPN w/o cable and I guess I'll be moving my tv etc AFTER GoT and the Walking Dead finish recording tomorrow night. (My priorities - - some might not get - but I know you guys do.)
Sumi, your new place looks very nice!
Exactly. "Oh just come over whenever you wake up in the morning." No, you chose one. Whenever I wake up or morning. They aren't always the same thing.
So, so true. Also, I'm betting people would assume that I'M the person who runs late to everything. Ha, no. That would be Pete. Not by a lot (usually), but I am the one standing around, ready to leave, while suddenly remembers one last thing he has to take care of.
ION, tonight's event just got a tIny bit stressful. A person I dislike intensely (to understate things) is probably going to be there. They were at last night's event, and there's no reason for them to be in PDX except for the Vampire Ball. Ugh. I'm pretty sure they won't try to talk to me, and the StuntHusband is on High Bitchery Alert, but still. I'd rather this person just vanish entirely.
