Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Just got a reminder of how idiosyncratic bodies can be.

A friend of mine suffered a reaction for no reason anyone could determine. Could not sleep. No appetite. lost 20 pounds in six weeks. And every test on earth found nothing. Finally a nurse redid the in-depth interview. "Did you change anything?" "I answered that at the beginning" "Answer again. Can you think of any change no matter how small.."

Well it turned out that having passed menopause she decided it was time to drop the birth control she had been on since the age of 30, when she decided that three kids was plenty. They put her back on the birth control pill; She is eating and sleeping again, and has gained back 18 of those 20 pounds over the past three months. And eventually they will try tapering her off in small gradual increments, the way they get people off predsizone. Anyway, cheers to the nurse who had the hunch to run the questionare again instead of trusting that it had been filled out the first time. And I'm guessing that is not the normal reaction to going off a birth control pill. Don't know which kind she used.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Bodies is weird, yo. And birth control pills are hormones, and hormonal changes make your body do the wacky.

Speaking of bodies and medicine, in this fascinating NBC news story, a doctor in San Diego talks about revolutionizing medicine (and its costs) with a smartphone.

I've been trying to think of ways that it could go wrong, but it seems like an interesting path to explore, regardless.

So, I bought a groupon for a month of krav maga classes. I plan to start April 1.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Vortex, I'm afraid that will cause you to exceed your Awesomeness quotient. You can only take krav maga as long as you don't fight while wearing a corset.

What Zenkitty said! Awesomeness indeed.

Teppy, I am so enjoying your wedding planning. You are going to be a stunning bride.

So Top o' the Morning, all. I have been crazed all week, with all the usual craziness, plus my sister from NY was visiting. So I haven't been able to be here more than in a skimming fashion. Today is my 23rd anniversary. Seriously, I feel like I won the marriage jackpot when I married Brendon.

My wish for Teppy & Tim is that they find marriage as wonderful as we have. From my glimpses into the two of you here, I really feel you are well suited for each other.

So I am working and DH has gone to a car show with Bobby. Are we old foggies or what? At least we are all wearing green!

Happy Anniversary Laura.

Thanks, Sue. It is low key as befits all married folk. We do plan to do something next month when things are less crazed. No time to even plan anything!

Laura, my parents, MUCH less auspiciously, were married on this day 56 years ago. I'm so glad I know lovely people who have redeemed this anniversary!

Sickness update...because I know everyone has been on tinterhooks...Still Ick. But, no fever, thank goodness. The coughing and nasal rubbish is making sleep nearly impossible. Thus, healing is going slowly. Blergh. Lung power at 60-70%

Maybe another day of rest will bring me back to life. Sigh.

Ugh, sorry to hear the ick is sticking with you still. May this be the end of it.
