Epic, it would be a really good idea to update your resume. The rest can wait, but if an opportunity arises you want to have a resume. And you do want to start looking at least on a low key level, because these days it takes a while to find a job, and most employers strongly prefer to hire someone who has a job. And if you get something good before the two years are up, you need to weigh the bonus they are offering against being unemployed. I'd make your goal to have your resume updated by April 1, and to be doing networking by May 1.
We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know...insane.

I'm glad you have the lead time, ET. Don't forget the Buffista resume whisperers, either. Erin's work on mine has resulted in about a call a week from recruiters. Nothing I've wanted to take yet, but if/when budget cuts start threatening my job, that'll change pretty quickly.

Danged carbs. I lost about 7 pounds at the beginning of the year on a low-carb diet, as I always do, then I got stressed and lost control and ate all the carbs, as I always do, and I gained back 10 pounds. I don't know why I even try to lose weight.

I just read the carb/gluten discussion while nomming on tortilla chips. I don't think I have gluten issues - I did cut it out once for a few weeks, and didn't see any difference in anything.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
I'm going to a "fishbowl" interview thing today. This company is having all the likely candidates come in and we are breaking into groups to come up with solutions to a selected HR problem, then presenting our solutions to the hiring panel. Based on that, the best of us are going to be asked in for actual interviews. It seems like a good way to gguage interaction and problem-solving skills and I am actually looking forward to it in a weird way.

My last job we got what was supposed to be 3ish months, but turned into 7 months. In a way, I think that was easier, because it was a reasonable window for "update resume NOW", "start networking NOW". Although I'll still gladly take this over the ones where someone shows up at your desk with a pink slip and a box for your stuff.
I've been telling a few people here (empathizing with the departments who already knew they were on their way out, breaking it to my department that they won't have me anymore), and everyone agrees that there's NO WAY they can pull off the transition they're planning for by the end of 2014. So there's a very good chance that it will end up being more than 2 years, but I'm still planning on 2014 as a semi-hard date, just for making plans if nothing else. (And if I make plans for a trip & buy tickets and stuff and they decide they still need me, I can make them bribe me to come back after my trip!)
So, I'm having a little attitude problem today, which I've decided I'm allowed for a day or two. So I'll do my job, but I'm not knocking myself out about it. What are they gonna do, fire me? (This was also my mantra for longish lunches and wearing yoga or track pants every day at the last job, Will try to control myself - starting next week).
One good thing, I can post more and be less lurky for a while - what are they gonna do, fire me?
