I'm still not 100% sure that I'm keeping her. She's a foster now, and if it's not working out, then I can bring her back to the shelter and they can find another home for her. I'm just getting really stressed out and anxious here, and it's really not good for me to be anxious like this.

Mr Peabody did the eating the kibble elsewhere much more when I first had him than he does now, but he still does it when he's at someone else's house. He is not motivated by treats at all, which is typical of the Jack Russell side, but is motivated by effusive praise.
Braunschweiger is another good treat, and really good for getting a dog to eat a pill. Dogs are generally enthusiastic about liver in all its forms. The pet stores sell cubes of freeze-dried liver as training treats.

Every other time I've taken care of a dog, it's been my friend's dog, and she was right there or coming home soon if it was getting to be too much for me. Having a dog all on my own, with no one else to help, might just be too much for me.

Okay, I clearly misunderstood you then. I'm sorry, sumi. Do you think you can be caretaker of a faculty member's home for a semester or summer? At least that will get you a place to live and you might have contacts given where you are.

I tend to eat all the braunschweiger before the dog gets it, myself. It's my second favorite sandwich to a BLT, even though I ate a braunschweiger sandwich every day through high school. My mother made my lunch after I established that the high school cafeteria food was inedible. Having a different sandwich would have required making a decision in the morning.
