I finally gathered mine all together and looked at them, and it was ridiculous. I was clearly trying to achieve something, but had so many near misses that I didn't end up wearing much of anything. So I decided to start again from scratch (except for Black Honey--one always keeps the Black Honey). Throwing out that pile was liberating.

Simplest of the simple, Erin. I ended up with Sephora's Rouge. I just went and tried it on again, because I couldn't believe it was that easy, and it honestly doesn't have that odd orange cast most reds end up with on my lips. I also bought Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense #47 (dark brown) and #48 purple, Sephora Lip Attitude-Glamour #15 (lip tone brown), and Kat Von D (ick) Homegirl (mad dark gothy purple).

So I'm looking for recommendations--it's pretty much what Clinque's Black Honey would be like if it had coverage, except more like a blood syrup. Help a sister out?

All of the colors that I would suggest are pink-toned. Let me check the stash of lipsticks that need to go to other people, I may have something. The closest I can think of is MAC Burnin', but that was a limited edition.

I agree with the ick, but it's a fabulous color. It's one of my go-to colors.

I know Jilli also wears Homegirl. I have the gloss (full coverage) and the Rosary gloss, got them on sale. ita !, I have a MAC Wonder Woman lipstick that looks awful on me that might suit you [link] On me it reminds me of the overly tanned shrink in Donnie Darko - 80s frosty badness. I've only used it once or twice. Let me know if you're interested.

I just sent StW a text saying "Hey, doesn't seem like we're ever going to be on the same page, it's been lovely, wish you the best, let me know if I'm misunderstanding." No response text yet, wonder if I'll get one. Irony (Morrissette style) being that I was hanging out with B while I did it. When I said good night to him (B), he kissed me on the lips and said "Fuck that guy." Funny, coming from him. I'm a little sad and numb, but I'll be fine. It might be a bit before I start dating again, though.

ita !, can you deal with scented lipsticks? I have a barely-used tube of Chanel Rouge Noir that is probably the color you want. But Chanel lipsticks are rose-scented.

Dear Chanel Cosmetics, Rouge Noir is not, I repeat, NOT the same color as Vamp. Why did you discontinue Vamp? WHYYYYYYYY? Vamp was perfect. Rouge Noir does not have a cherry undertone, which makes it imperfect for me.

Related funny - B texted our friend H last night (he crashed in her hotel room) just "Chickie Wah Wah." Which she assumed was some kind of euphemism for having sex. It's actually a music club [link] (caution, music autoplays). I told her, "I think you're thinking of Bom Chicka Wah Wah."

We went to a play tonight (Clybourne Park) which was amazing, and then to the Melting Pot for dinner, which was also amazing.
