On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Cat claws have no traction on tile floors. I am cruel for laughing but it's kinda hilarious. Puppycat can't corner at speed.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

You can't blame yourself for laughing at Puppycat. Blame cartoons.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I did a 30 minute yoga video this morning and then a few weight exercises. Where's my gold star?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Nice one, Laura!

Laura is the best.

Laundry is in the wash. I turned the water on, added the soap, and then almost forgot to put the clothes in. Which is still better than TCG, who doesn't seem to understand the concept at all. I do all the laundry, which is fine because he does a lot of stuff I can't do around the house. Last night he mentioned he needed some pants washed, but when I asked him if they were in the hamper, he said no. I don't mind doing the laundry, but I'm not looking through his closet to decide what needs to be washed or not.

No call or text back. I am going to yoga on faith at 23 degrees. Faith is cold.

Faith is overrated and should bring me some warm socks.

Always Anti-fascist!

My relatives on facebook are so annoying. My aunt(you might remember her because my mother snarked that she died years ago and nobody told her body...I come by it honestly, anyway) posted this long, defensive update about Southern culture, etc. My aunt is not southern, but she is married to, say, a Lieutenant Colonel(sp?) or something like that. Somehow, it annoys me that she doesn't make the connection from that to the level of, you know, hospitality and whatnot she gets from the lovely people on the base in Tennessee. (Not that they are not polite people...I'm just thinking the officer's wife isn't going to get the usual newbie reception.) Seems like appropriation...and of the worse kind. If you're going to embrace the Ashley Wilkes, seems to me you have to make room in your head to deal with the Boyd Crowders too. But I don't know much more about the South then from reading, or from Southernistas, but I doubt there's just one "southern experience", even if we desert-dwellers point to Alabama statistics to make ourselves feel better. I don't know why this gets to me...phonebanking North Carolina does not give me a dog in this fight...

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

but I doubt there's just one "southern experience"

For whatever it's worth, I can assure you that my own Southern experience has fuckall to do with bullshit GWTW chivalry myths or any of the rest of what comes with that version.
