Poor Bonny. I hope they can clear this bout up quickly.
Is anyone interested in some kind of emergency contact list of Buffista phone numbers and perhaps contact info for a friend or neighbor? I'm at my desk most of the time between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. EST. I could coordinate with a West Coast person. If y'all think it's a good idea, I'll move this to Bureaucracy.
eta: Also, what le nubian said.
I like that idea. I think for a fair number of us (especially who are unpartnered or unroommated), we're probably better positioned here than many RL people to notice when something might be amiss.
Yeah, when I've been between roommates, I know it would be some time before someone noticed I was missing/dead/fallen over and can't get up. Since I work from home and all. They'd start emailing and wondering why I wasn't answering, but it would take a while.
I spoke with Bonny again, and she would appreciate your prayers/good thoughts. She's tired and frustrated but now seems to have a couple of doctors who are willing to explain to her what they're trying to do, and a couple of advocates to help her navigate the system. She will have to spend another night in the hospital. Cagney is in good hands.
Teppy, if you are around and have time, she would appreciate a call to ask you about some of the medications they're trying to drip into her. One of the most frustrating things for her is that she's not getting good explanations of why she's being prescribed things.
For anyone who would like to give her a call, my profile addy is good, and I will pass on contact info. I also have her snail mail/email address for those that want to send good wishes one of those routes. She does not have a charger at the hospital, so her wireless access is very limited.
I told her I would call her back this evening to check in and see how things were going.
Sparky, thank you for your initiative-taking.
Thank you, Sparky! Ugh, poor bonny. So stressful and scary. I hope she's getting good care.
I am also down with an emergency contact list.
My brother and I got an email this morning to expect a letter from my grandfather in the next few days. Is it bad that I really hope it's money? It's just that 1) I need money 2) he has relatively a lot 3) he's 90 and it would make sense for him to start giving his money away to avoid estate taxes and 4) I cannot imagine what the hell else he would write us letters about. Unless I'm being disowned for being a liberal or he's bequeathing me a firearm, which are both highly unlikely but impossible to totally rule out.

I can't really call her from my desk or I'll get busted. And I need to be near a computer so I can look things up for her. Do you think it would be okay to wait until after work? I can call sooner, but that means taking my cell phone down the hall and I won't be able to look things up while on the phone with her.
Steph, I think it will be fine to call after work. She will probably have a better idea of the treatment plan then. I just think she needs some reassurance; she's so used to taking care of other people that figuring out how to let other people take care of her is really stressful.
Sparky, thanks so much for checking in on Bonny, and for keeping us posted.
Do we want an emergency contact list separate from the list that Jen P, Amy, and I are maintaining? It would be easy to add contact information that would only be shared in an emergency (or whatever you specify).
