Yeah, there were sirens here in Tel Aviv about 30 minutes ago. Since we can't drink at work, we replaced drinking game with "one silly song per siren". I started with Pearl Jam's Alive, and for my next turn (if a third siren will be heard today) it'll be Alice in Chain's We Die Young.
A part of me feels truly horrible doing this while there's so much suffering for others and mostly in Gaza, but that's my coping mechanism. I have to laugh about it. It's bad enough that when I get to a shelter, for at least two minutes I'm shivering and I can't control it.
(I'm OK. Really am. No hugs needed. I'm lucky for a shelter and an alarm to get me there in time).
ION, in an hour and a half I'm about to interview Mark Lanegan for an Israeli music blog. Since it's been quiet in my area for a few hours, I'm starting to get very nervous about it. Hoping I'll catch him in a good mood.
Dark humor is not a bad thing, as long as those around you are in the same mood. And let's just say the shelters are chilly, that's what the shivers are for. Yeah. Chilly. That must be it.
Good luck with the interview!!

All done with the interview. He didn't eat me alive!
{{Shir}} I know you don't 'need' them, but always a good thing. I hope some sanity happens soon. Yay on not getting eaten alive!
{{Stephanie}} They are really fast at that age! Fortunately parks and zoos are very practiced at finding them quick. It happens a lot!
I've been working most of the weekend, but think I need to go swimming or something that is not sitting at the computer.
Shir, dark humor is a pretty common thing in those types of situations. Praying for peace, and for the inspiration to play silly songs that aren't about death.
Laura! Take a brain and body break! You'll work better after.
Lazy morning. About to get up and fix French toast (with baguette!) and then get some onerous tasks done before the game.
All done with the interview. He didn't eat me alive!
This is the 2nd rock star interview that I am aware of, are you turning into an "Almost Famous" movie, Israeli style?
You know that whole "going to the gym" thing? Yeah, I am totally sore today. I see a hot bath in my future.
Continuing hugs for Shir and Nilly. (I know Nilly is safe, but she must be worried about a bunch of people she knows.) Also for "Melody Pond", who I don't know (at least by that name) but ran into on Twitter.
A long hot soak in a very hot bath heavily laced with epsom salts is one of the most wonderful options in modern life.
And Shir, dark humor away! Sounds like a very good coping mechanism for a truly awful situation.
