Question: Will hiding in a cavern with stockpiled chocolate goods be any part of this plan?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I heard from the vet. Dean's liver is in bad shape but it's not failing. Barring an ultrasound (I really wish they'd stop bringing that up, yesterday she said it would cost $1000. I can't spend that on my cat as much as I love him.) she can surmise it's an infection. She recommends a course of antibiotics, another medicien I forgot what it was, and fluids subcutaneously.

I'm going back today to learn how to do the fluids so I can do that at home. He seemed in the right direction last night but not so well.

askye, this may be "out there", but milk thistle extract (silymarin) helps heal liver damage in humans and I've heard of it being used to good effect in cats as well.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I hope the meds and fluids make Dean feel better quickly, askye.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Poor Dean, but glad he has a course of action.

Sending ~ma to all the sick buffistae and buffista-adjacent folks today.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

I promised pictures. We didn't buy last year's pictures (we do it every other year, usually), and this year we missed picture day, so we'll have to get them on retake day. So, what I have is Aidan in 2nd grade and Kara in 4th grade.

Kara: [link]

Aidan: [link]

They're at google docs. If that doesn't work, let me know.

Also, hi! ~ma to everyone who needs it. I only read the last day's posts. I was thousands behind. I did get a strange craving for my one true grape lipstick and this wig: [link]

edit: ack! misspelled Aidan's name!

Zen I'll see about the milk thistle.

So I had a panic attack driving the cat to the vet, partly because I missed exits, got turned around and finally got there. But it was pretty bad and I was driving, which is the only thing that kept me from completely melting down.

Dean had fluids, also his first course of antibiotic (pink kid's stuff--), despite the panic attack I did the fluids with the tech showing me. She also shaved a bit of fur off so I could see better what I'm doing. He also has a liver supplement which he starts tomorrow. He only needs the fluids 2 -3 times a week, but the antibiotic 2x a day, the liver supplement 1 day, the anticid 1x day, and the appetite stimulant every 2-3 days.

And they said to give him anything he would eat. Will followed me home and we had dinner and hit the grocery store and loaded up on various things. If that doesn't work I'll try fresh fish or shrimp.
