Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I don't argue with people who are saying stupid shit. It's a policy that has served me well. It takes way too much fucking work to line up your cites and research and make a cogent argument and remain cool and level headed, when they're the kind of people who believe any old bullshit anyway.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

There have always been crazies who believed in plots by the Trilateral Commission, Masons, the UN, Jews and, these days, Muslims. I sometimes think that none of the people who believe these things could have worked for a large organization or organized a large event. If they had, they would know that no large organization can keep a secret and someone would notice the preparations for black helicopters from the UN or the building of death camps. What's different is the number of people of seem to be genuinely frightened of such things. I can't help but think that this is because the election of Obama makes these people realize that the world has changed in ways that make them feel helpless and afraid.

Well, the Windows Vista install I had on this machine seems to be working much better than the MacOS install. At least for now.

Sean do you need help doing a clean reinstall of the OS?

Maybe. I've been bad about backup, so I'll need to try and pull some documents off it if I can, before I do that. My worry is that the drop damage some critical sector of the hard drive, but I guess if it's just the hard drive, it's not that bad.

I did discover that part of the badness on the Mac side is that the system keeps trying to index the drive, and getting hung up. I can't get it to stop, and everything is taking five minutes or more (or just hanging). But as I say, the Vista side seems to be running just fine.

We can put the computer in disk mode and try to pull the user data.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

I am waiting for the fan installer dude to show up. The appointment is from 12-3. It's 2:40. I'm getting impatient.

Also, called mom to see if she wants to come over to be in a/c (it's 102 outside!). She hasn't responded. I'm trying to not worry.
