Congrats to Tom Scola!!! woot!!!!
Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Love the rug, askye! And yay first day of work soon, Tom!
I got some bad news today. Financial. Basically, I thought I had found a way to affordably consolidate some bad debt into good debt without ruining my credit and got my hopes way up, and now it's looking like that isn't going to happen.
I know logically that I am no worse off than I was a week ago when I hadn't yet found a solution, but I'd really let myself begin to believe that this huge weight was going to be lifted. Somehow that makes it much harder. Sigh. Anyway.
Tom, great news! Hope the new job is fabulous.
Pix, I hate that shit. I tried to negotiate lower rates on my credit cards, and failed. Applied for a rewards card to do a balance transfer, and got rejected. It sucks.
Ugggh, I am so cranky. Up late again, still need to shower, did most of my evening routine but not all, and I'm annoyed with the dudes working in my house. They were shocked (SHOCKED I SAY) that pulling down plaster from the ceiling created a huge mess and black dust everywhere in the bathroom. Hi, have you ever worked in any old house EVER?
And then I come in to find they've gotten a woman (I assume one of their wives) to clean because "she's better at it." And she used Pinesol and an old school rag mop and the mop was sour and now it smells and I recleaned and it still smells and there's black smudges all over my bathroom and my tub and just... I am cranky.
This is going to be my third night in a row getting less than six hours sleep. Not good. I have got to catch up or I will get sick.

Oh yuck! I'd call them and make them re-do it and do it right. FFS
Some pics of the new(er) washer dryer for me.
First, the original:

The pair are just over 1 year old. It has a "wash the washer" cycle, so I did that. Also cleaned out the soap dish. Lint screen was surprisingly gunky. Not sure what that's about. But, cleaned it all out too.
Not quite new, but about 10-15 years newer than what was in there. More water & energy effient. And half price of buying new. Not bad!
My first load in it is in the dryer right now. Woot!
Friday, I have "Closet World" coming by. Seeing if they have a better option than the Ikea Pax option, which doesn't quite fit inside the closet.
Trying to make progress, despite the construction crap at a standstill.
Thanks, smonster. And I'm sorry that annoying people are being annoying. And omnis, I can't even imagine your frustration with the neverending construction on your new place.
Since I killed the thread already, I might as well Sally forth boldly with a personal medical question. All summer I've been getting horrible bug bites that welt up itch like mad, and take forever to heal. The most recent bites have a bruise all around them, and the only pressure they've felt is some furtive scratching. So big, allergic reactions to bug bites, extremely slow healing (weeks and weeks), and a tendency to bruise easily. I take a multivitamin...? They tested my thyroid a month ago and it was fine. Any other ideas about why my body is being so broken lately?
I've never been given a medical reason for it. I have been given prescription-strength steroidal ointment. Which is great.
Have you been able to id what you're having that allergic reaction to? That might be a tipp-off to why the nasty reaction, especially if it there's any anemia involved.
Pix, does your multivitamin have Vitamin K in it?
