No. You're missing the point. The design of the thing is functional. The plan is not to shoot you. The plan is to get the girl. If there's no girl, then the plan, well, is like the room.

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Bronchitis sucks.

I gave up on Twilight and watched It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, instead, which was a much better choice.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I'm trying to watch the pilot of American Horror Story - it expires off of Hulu Monday - but it's gusty outside and I'm a wuss and I think I'm going to have to watch it in the daytime.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I only watch AHS with the sun streaming through the windows, smonster. Because I am a big ol' fraidy cat.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Thanks, everyone! I’m pretty happy. Our school has a biannual magazine that they send to all the families, alumna, and prospectives, and they’ve decided to feature me and my work with NBPTS next time. It’s the first time since I entered the independent school world that I feel like all this work means something and is being recognized.

Maria, I’m glad the surgery went well. I’ll keep fingers and toes crossed for the best possible outcome.

Ginger, I’m glad your back is feeling a bit better. Relief-ma to you.

smonster, insent.

So HPF starting a dinner conversation about the similarities between Harry Potter and Luke Skywalksr is normal, right?

No, it’s not...which is why HKF is SO FREAKIN’ AWESOME.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Congratulations, Pix!

So HPF starting a dinner conversation about the similarities between Harry Potter and Luke Skywalksr is normal, right?

It's super normal. Starting a dinner conversation with a Bakhtinian analysis of the grotesque realism elements of Harry Potter would have been scary, though.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Wake Up With Stephen Fry! [link] In this episode, he explains why swearing is wonderful.

Thoughts for Sox, Nora, ita, FredPete, Maria, smonster and everyone else being given crap by the universe.

Laura, I'm really sorry to hear about Brandy.

Hil, how's the rib that was dislocating? I hope it's getting better.

Things very quiet here. The Girl is very busy, between her law course and spending a lot of time in Houston with her family (stuff is starting to look not-too-good with her dad's cancer). I am writing abstracts and doing a lot of reading. Why did no one warn me I would have to read ALL THE BOOKS to get a PhD? That is a lot of books.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Ginger, glad you are feeling better, sorry your back still hurts. I wish you some time soon completely well, free of back pain respiratory illness, and what have you. And wish you magical delivery of pain meds in the meantime.

Typo Boy speaks for me.

smonster's phone is dead! Long live smonster's phone!

Ah, Stephen Fry - what a wondrous world this is in which such a stately, erudite man can buy back several decades of my life and turn me into a giggling 12 year old.

Peace~ma for The Girl's whole family.

Seska, I do hope you don't end up having to write ALL THE BOOKS as well. Cuz that would just be a lot of fuss and bother.

not your mom's socks.

It's super normal. Starting a dinner conversation with a Bakhtinian analysis of the grotesque realism elements of Harry Potter would have been scary, though.

Ginger is hereby recruited to teach Buffista Academy Lower School.

Pix, you need to start Buffista Academy soonest.

My brain is shorting out each and every time I look out the window. Unpossible. I am also pretty sure there are Philadelphians driving in state-mandated snow-posture (stick both hands out of car window, stick head out of window, flail & shriek. Repeat.) already.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Sox, I'm right there with you. We may get up to a foot of snow today. We're supposed to be at Mom's measuring the furniture we're taking after the sale. I can't believe this.

{{{Nora & Tom}}} I'm so sorry.

{{{Maria}}} You and your DH continue to be in my thoughts.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I'm no good at mearaing so I'll just offer {{all thems that needs or wants it}}. But know I'm thinking of all of you and wishing you all the best.

sj, I got your postcard! Thank you. It's up on my refrigerator where I can stop and admire it whenever I want.

Also, stay safe Northeasterners. Hard to believe snow already. We've gotten freezing temps overnight, but days in the 50s, which has been splendid. I went to a corn maze with some friends last night and it was a hoot and a half with flashlights, much fannish frivolity and one girl wrapped in a beach towel because her jacket wasn't warm enough. Fortunately, there was hot apple cider to warm us when it was over.
