OK, I seem to have a fair amount of shirts and pants with a loose button. Now, I suck at sewing. I mean, the button stays on for awhile. And thanks to my aggressive cris-cross back n forth pattern on the button, when the thread starts giving, it takes awhile for it to go all off. My question, is there a better way of doing it? I mean, I guess maybe I'm tying off wrong or something? Or a gizmo that is great? I seem to recall a As Seen On TV type of thing to quickly sew on buttons thing. Do they work?
Signed, not very crafty when it comes to needle & thread, and too cheap to bring to dry cleaners/tailor
Wow, I was really hitting that post message button hard.
Damn, Strix, that sucks. But yay on getting the yard cleaned out!!
On a happier note, I love glazing windows while listening to podcasts. Very soothing.
Yard will get cleaned tomorrow; guy had a car problem. That;s okay, though.
sumi, I am so sorry about your kitty.
ok that tie off is different. will try that. thanks!!
insert whine here about being tired, and not wanting to hike across campus to work in the outside theater.

Go team first aid + judicious googling. I kept my finger splinted all day, and it's definitely healing together. Part of the gash landed right on a wrinkle, so I think I'll just have a small scar on the side of the knuckle. I'm going to keep it splinted for at least another day or two.
I think I may have damaged a nerve (Things I Won't Tell My Family for $1000, Alex) because there's a little numbness just above the knuckle, but I've still got full feeling in my finger tip so I'm not going to worry about it. With luck, those nerves will heal themselves (I'm basing this on my experience post-eye surgery, when it took several months to get all the feeling back in my cheek).
No swelling or signs of infection, and it definitely looks better than it did this morning. Why yes, I am taking pictures to track the healing process.
Let's hope this safety lesson lasts me a long, long time. I knew better, and I did it anyway, and I'm lucky it wasn't worse. Also, I fucking hate Bondo. I hate the way it smells, and how fast it sets up, and what a bitch it is to clean off tools. I need to find a better epoxy for us to use.
Sumi, really sorry. Smonster, how frustrating.
In mememme news, was a damn rat in our front yard. I suspect it is because I've been bleeding a lot lately for reasons that are too dull to tell, and that means a lot of bloody bandages and paper towels in the garbage. Rats can smell right through the garbage bags if there is even a tiny hole or tear, and they are especially attracted to human blood. Garbage pickup Thursday, and in the meantime, I'm a cruel bastard who hopes the neighborhood cats get him.
