On the "wow y'all have experiences" tip, anyone got experience with shin splints? I've had them on and off since January and it's making me crazy. Every time I think they're healed, the next time I even try to do a TINY bit, they're hurting like crazy again. I got insoles and stuff so I'm supposed to be good there, but apparently not. My roommate thinks I should go to the doctor, but I feel weird asking my GP about it, but even weirder calling some other doc (orthopedics? Sports medicine? No idea) about it--and I really dont want to pay for two visits!
In other news, I am having vague memories of being in the same place I am right now four or five years ago. Madness.
I have, meara. Only thing that healed them was time not running and new running shoes.
meara, have you tried doing exercises to strengthen your calves?
Aims, I wasn't going to say anything, but I did notice that you guys don't seem to have very many books. After all, I don't think there's a bookshelf in the bathroom (yet).
a bookshelf in the bathroom
Would the pile of books on the back of the toilet and on the laundry detergent container count?

I suppose, although something formal really would be preferable.
Hm. Now I'm realizing that I don't have a bookshelf in the bathroom! Does a magazine rack full of old Smithsonians count?
Great news about Biyi's parents, bt.
but I'm not going to make myself crazy with it.
Sounds very wise, Kate. I love the pictures you post of you and Rose (?) (Is her name Rose or am I misremembering?). You both look incredibly happy.
I just found this lovely blog and it looks like it might be kinda inspirational and fun for y'all. [link]
I just saw a naked person here at work!
Our group bathrooms have showers in them, with frosted doors, but for the longest time they've been used as storage for paper towels and whatnot. I'm surprised someone had the chutzpah to actually use it as a shower. I don't think I'd risk it in front of people I see every day that I'm not related to.
Lisah, how long did you rest them? I haven't done any running in about 5 weeks...and was feeling ok...but 90 second spurts of slow running yesterday (couch to 5k) immediately made them painful again.
