Thanks, smonster. I'm being optimistic and taking the kids to see Avengers. I think they will handle it okay. If not, I already saw it so I won't be mad if we leave.

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Oh dear, Stephanie. What a rough mother's day for your parents. I hope the kids do well at the movie with you.
I'm going to bitch and get it out of my system, then try and enjoy the day. This year I made a plan and it has been a big fat disaster so far. Initial plan was pool brunch with MIL and friend then movie for the 6 of us. MIL bailed yesterday. Friend got a late start and is meeting us at movie, which means she will likely be late and I will have to wait outside for her with her ticket. Son did not get a ride so DH has been pressed into service to go pick him up. Which means that they have to meet me at the theater too. To make it that much more pleasant, now DH will not have time to shower after mowing the lawn in Florida heat, and son won't be able to shower after being in the same clothes at his smoking friends' house for the last couple days. And since it is assigned seats we get to sit together.
Ok, I am over it. Next year I don't count on anyone, as usual. Except DH and Bobby, because they rock as always.
Ok, I wasn't finished bitching. And I have been working all day and never got my mimosas and don't intend to open a bottle of champagne be myself. Particularly when the celebratory mood has long passed.
Ugh, sorry Laura. Maybe DH or son can wait for the friend? it' s Mother's Day after all.
My mom loved her flowers (delivered today!), and she got the best mother's day present -- the waiter thought that she was my brother's sister.
eta: Laura, if you don't feel like celebrating, then don't, but don't let anything else stop you from opening the champagne. You deserve it, dammit!
Oh yeah, Bobby will wait for all of them since I can't stand anyway and it will take me a bit to walk to the destination.
Poopyheads!
I'm sorry, Laura!
If you were here I'd make you waffles and pour you mimosas and pet your hair and tell you how pretty and awesome you were!
I'll have some wine when I get home and save the champagne for another time. DH and I are going out of town tomorrow and will be staying at a nice Inn on the Gulf so maybe I'll pack it up cold and take it with me. He doesn't drink, but I am used to drinking alone with him.
eta: thank you David!
DH has arrived with son after breaking a few land speed records. He is taking a 30 second shower and I am making my way to the car. Later all...

I was all this--"OMG you can't not drink the champagne! Hell, more for you!"
I hope the quick shower and son ended up nice, and maybe you got a chance to just leave the friend's ticket at will-call.
I went to the farmer's market with the roomie, and had a yummy biscuit (with bacon, cheese, and caramelized onions in it), and then we went to Value Village (sadly, none of the cute dresses fit her) and now home. It's a gorgeous day out, and I think I'm going to do some catching up on internets, and then do some sewing. Yay.
It's just not Mother's Day without your mom telling you how much happier you would be if she were eaten by a lion because then she would stop bugging you all the time.
