I swear by Smashbox, but I use the regular one. I think they have an oil-free one. And Origins used to make a great mattifying product...lemme see, do they still make it?

I use either the MAC Prep & Prime (which has the bonus of being SPF 50), or Make Up Forever's primer. Smashbox doesn't work for me.

What pisses me off is I at one point had the perfect combination of sunblock and primer. But I think the abx are making my skin freak out and exacerbating my random primer issues.

Man, I just had an amazing conversation with my bro. We've never actually had a substantial conversation, really, about how much our childhoods fucked us up. But he called me tonight, having a meltdown because his job is sucking and his wife is out of town for work yet again (being a coffee buyer means you spend a lot of time in the countries where it's grown) and he can't sleep and his friends keep dying.

Which is a lot of shit to deal with. And I just listened sympathetically and occasionally offered up an opinion...and then somehow he segued into how fucked up he is, and how if he and his wife are going to have kids (!) (really, !!!, but also YAY!), he needs to really sort his shit out first. And I told him that if I could do it, he can do it. And then we just talked about our own brand of fucked-upped-ness for about an hour, and at the end, he said, "I really needed to have this conversation. You actually share my crazy."

"Yeah," I said. "And you can deal with your crazy. It won't go away, but it also won't win. Most days. And really, 'most days' is a pretty good deal."

Seriously, it was kind of an amazing conversation. I hope it helped him.

Thanks, Epic! The Eucerin stuff sounds like it might be good for non-work days. I've started breaking out (SO not like me) on neck front and back... not sure what combo of sweat/dirt/sawdust/sunscreen is causing it, but Do Not Want. Not sure if it's really breakout or a heat rash, but whatevs. Do. Not. Want.

I volunteered at the first annual green business awards here tonight, in exchange for a free ticket. Of course, I spent more than the price of a ticket on silent auction items - I am such a sucker for a silent auction - and I would have helped had I bought a ticket, so it's all good. The farmer's tan on the back of my neck is so bad that foundation and powder barely toned it down at all. I think I'd need tattoo cover up at this point. So what did I do? Pointed it out to people as proof of what I do for a living, along with my callused and scratched up hands. The president of a local recycling company and I got our recycling rants on, which was great fun since I haven't done it in so long, and I networked with a Dookie who works on econ dev for the city.

Lovely night, my feet hurt, and it's time for bed.
