Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Sumi, excellent news! I'm so happy for you!
ION, I'm irked with my OB/GYN's office. Short version (whitefonted for TMI): I thought I had a yeast infection, treated it with OTC stuff, no improvement. Based on that, thought it might be a UTI, but the sample came back clean, so primary-care doc treated it as bacterial vaginosis. Perhaps a little improvement, but not much, but now I am clearly having textbook symptoms of a yeast infection, which I was not having before (which I will not describe, but there is no doubt that's what it is).
So I call my OB/GYN's office, and ask the gatekeeper if, based on that history (symptoms + failure of OTC treatment), could the doctor call in a prescription for Diflucan (which is a pill and much more effective than OTC stuff). Gatekeeper says no -- without consulting the doctor -- that because the OTC treatment didn't work, I need to come in for an exam, because if the OTC treatment failed, then it's obviously not a yeast infection and it's probably bacterial.
I asked her, "Did you hear me when I said my primary care doctor treated me for bacterial vaginosis? And the treatment didn't help? I'm 40 years old, and I've had yeast infections before, and these symptoms are pretty clear." And I described them quite graphically.
And Gatekeeper was snottily insistent that no, if the OTC treatment didn't work, then clearly I don't have a yeast infection. Which is BULLSHIT. Prescription treatments like Diflucan exist specifically *because* OTC treatments sometimes just aren't a big enough gun to wipe out the yeast infection.
But no, I have to come in, and she doesn't have an opening until Friday. Which I also bitched about. Really? I have to see you in order to get treatment, but I have to wait 3 more days with this?
And the thing is, the *doctor* might have been cool with just calling in a prescription, but I couldn't get past the receptionist. I asked her if the doctor could just call me and talk to me, and she said no, I need to come in for an exam.
That doctor is getting an earful on Friday. (And my primary-care doctor won't call in a prescription for Diflucan for me; I already asked, and she said she's not comfortable doing that since she's not an OB/GYN.)
My magical ladyparts are PISSED.
Yay, sumi!
Sane~doctor~ma, Steph.
I can't tell you how relieved I was to hear the news.
OMG, Steph - that's nutty and I hope that your doctor is sensible even if his/her office staff is not.
Thank goodness, sumi. And fucking hell, Steph.
yay sumi
What a frickin' PITA, Tep. Definitely give the doctor an earful on Friday. Not on, Gatekeeper. Not. On.
But yay yay yay sumi!
Yay, sumi!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, some good news in these parts.
Unlike Teppy's lady parts which are full of bad news right now.
Excellent news, sumi! Whew.
