These scams work because there are people who go "Oh, dear, something's wrong! I must fix it!" Though that of course ties in to "Someone's wrong on the Internet, I must fix it!"
I'm waiting at the doctor's office and I really need to pee (fire), but I'm guessing they'll want me to pee (fire) in a cup to test it, so I'm holding it, but GOING TO BURST. Fire.
Can't you tell the receptionist (or nurse) you really need to pee, but you expect your doctor will want a sample? I always do and they usually just give me a cup and let me give the sample before the doctor is ready to see me.

In my medical news the doctor called and my A1C which was at 7.2 is now 6.5. Still JUST over the line for diabetes, but a major improvement.
And here I was plotting ways to get equity up to 20% to do away with it, and save the $90 or so a month.
Hell, we tried to do away with it mere weeks before realizing it would save our asses. We'd paid 20% of the principal, but couldn't get it removed, because they'd need to do a reappraisal (at our expense) to see if it was actually 20% of the VALUE. Which, as we all well know it would not be.

Our credit union doesn't do a second mortgage to avoid PMI, so our choices were either PMI or 20% down.
