My son just got home from school with sad news. A senior in his school, a straight A student from the Dominican Republic, died from a brain aneurism. He had a bad headache for 3-4 days but didn't go to the doctor because he didn't have insurance. School sent home a lovely letter about the loss. This just makes me sick. Isn't taking care of our sick and our children a basic responsibility?
Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Only if you're a Socialist, apparently.
Laura, that is so sad and horrible.
Oh Laura, how tragic.
I think we are only supposed to worry about them up until the point they are ejected from the birth canal, then they are on their own. Or something about trickle down healthcare. Something like that.
Bobby is understandably shaken. He has been through loss in school due to violence, drugs, and accidents, but the random senselessness just hurts so much.
Oh, Laura, I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm sure he is - that's not something you expect to happen to someone your age at that age, and the reason he couldn't go to a doctor is heartbreaking and enraging.
wow, 2012 is turning out to be a great year. WTF?
OK, we need to turn this boat around. If everyone around the world sings Small World, or Kumbaya, or Don't Worry, Be Happy... maybe we can change the mental attitude of the world, and the universe will bend towards justice and happiness.
What? I can dream, can't I?
{{{Laura and Bobby}}} I'm so sorry.

Yeah, Bobby has had issues with headaches for many years. Dehydration, sugar, probably migraines too. But he has insurance. He had every test in the book including an MRI to rule out anything serious. The whole thing is just so upsetting. He knew the kid, but of course didn't really know anything about his family situation. He had a really thick accent and Bobby thinks he was living with some extended family member. It is very common for kids from the DR or Haiti and other countries to come here and stay with some friend or family so they can go to school here. Parents want their kids to have a better life. Sorry, really upset here.
