Jen! Eek! Hope your Mom is ok!

Steph, that totally sounds like something I would do!!!

Scrappy, just when I get proud of myself for finally figuring out Toto's new diabetes pee needs, he'll have like four accidents in a day. Silly doggies. But yay puppy!!!

I have wicked bad insomnia. We're three weeks away from the wedding, and we went away for the weekend for our engagement pictures. I brilliantly decided I would take this opportunity to leave my phone and computer at home to take a complete break. I think this as backfired! Thank goodness for Lloyd's iPad! So, anyone still up??

Yes, now I'm curious about the mystery posting!

saw many perveyours of beads and thingies

I somehow read this as "saw many perverts" and I was like "O RLY?!"

Ugh. Went on third date with girl, she took me to her friend's birthday party. Friends were cool, really liked one of them, everyone was playing games (we played "Life", and then mixed CatchPhrase with Jenga...). Unfortunately, I was hoping she'd loosen up and be more fun around her friends, and maybe with a little booze...but no. There's just no spark, even though she's cute and nice. Sigh. And I'd been feeling kinda crappy all day, too. So eventually I said I wanted to leave, and could take a cab and she was all "No no, I'll drive you", and I was like "Well, I think the party's only lasting another half hour or so here" and she insisted on driving me and as we got to her car was all "So, did you want to go out with me again?" and I had to be like "No, not really". Ugh.

But really, if I'm more excited about the idea of staying home and catching up on TiVo than going out with you? You're really not the girl for me.

Mom~ma for JenP! Hope all heals well and timely. Maybe for the next holiday, send her a couple boxes of bubble wrap in anticipation.

Meara, sorry she didn't have any spark for ya. At least you are out there trying. I wish I had your verve to actually get out there.

Speaking of getting out... tonight a friend was in town, and we went to see a show and hang out with acquaintances from the small theaters we both did shows with. Went to a bar with a half decent bar band... but it's volume pretty much put me out of the conversation. Couldn't hear anything. Kinda understood some of the isolation deaf people experience.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Home, show is wrapped. And it came off like a charm. There were multiple minor issues, but in the end? In my very reserved cowboy town, the Celtic fiddle band got a double standing ovation.

So it's all a win. My former students did great. The local folk band we were harangued into hiring for local draw actually were decent and were very nice, contrary to expectation. And our friends' band brought the house down.

And the hired band earned out their guarantee. Total ticket sales broke a grand, so five hundred bucks a band, plus forty for the little girls. Another two hundred in merch sales to our friends, no idea what the other band pulled in.

As promoters we still basically suck, because we broke even, but only if you don't count the free food and the venue costs the church put up, plus would-be costs from the soundman and the kid working door. If we'd earned out another two hundred, we'd have taken our ten percent cut, but as it was, I let it go.

For future reference, it was too much for me to handle greenroom hospitality, ticket sales, and tech. And for the SO to be doing emceeing, artist wrangling, and also tech. Because of timing, mostly. Venue setup and loading meant I didn't have greenroom ready in time, catering issues kept me out of soundcheck, and ticket sales made me mostly miss changeovers. Logistics.

But, in the end, happy audience, happy bands, happy hosting church. So it's all to the good.

Sounds like a good time all around. Now get some much deserved sleep.

IOmeN- taxes are done. E-filed. But printer is misbehaving, so can't print out a hard copy for myself. At this hour, I don't feel like troubleshooting.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Jen, continued good thoughts sent to you and your mom.

vw, I hope you got some sleep. Where did you go for your pictures?

Teppy, I could have totally done that. I'm glad Tim thinks quickly in a crisis.

Yay for a successful conference, Liese!

Yay for finishing your taxes, omnis!

meara, I'm sorry to hear about your bad date.
