This must be the place where I can toot my own horn! My company develops software and yet I have zero programming background. My education is accounting and my role in the business has been management and customer service. I am often in the middle man role of translating between the tech and non-tech people because I understand them both, somewhat.
Anyway, my priorities and Development priorities are often not aligned and I try and figure out work arounds. So this morning I tackled a problem that will eventually be solved in code, but I get pressure from end users to solve.
And with the help of Google and an understanding of our SQL tables I wrote a super complicated (for me) query that pulls info from a bunch of tables and gives me a report we really need. So, in your face smarty pants programmers! Keep being slow and I'll just do it myself.
Also, really expect to impress the co-workers so extra cool.
Thank you for listening to my bragging. Had to get it out somewhere!
Woo hoo, Laura! You go girl!
Laura kicks SQL ass!
Oh, man, but if you do that, the developers will never help you on time again! They'll just fall back into their pit of Mass Effect 3, and that's the last you'll ever see of them...
Toot that horn, Laura!
Keep being slow and I'll just do it myself.
That's their plan.
Indeed, ita and Ginger. This occurred to me too. So I won't bother to tell them and will leave the project on my wish list. From their padded cells cubicals they rarely have a clue what is happening with end users anyway. Ha!
Also, if they find out my SQL knowledge is growing they will never give me a quick query again.
Go Laura, with the self-empowerment and the SQL and the glayvin! t crawls back into pit of ME3
