xposted from Bitches: So, we didn't win. Sadface. But we totally should have!! We really truly had the best pitch, and slides, and I tossed out a few glass bead necklaces at the end! I didn't even want to win until tonight, and now I really wish we had. But the president of a local recycling company came up to me and gave me his card, and we're going to set up a meeting with him. I don't know how the hell we'll have time to make this happen, but we're going to try! (The winning idea involved people trading unwanted beads for bathroom tokens along the parade route, and I gave her my contact info and told her I'd help her since I have green event experience.)

Dude, that's pretty awesome! Even if you didn't win, you made connections! (The beads for bathrooms sounds like a pretty awesome idea to me, really...)
Oh yeah, I'm pscyhed to have made this connection. I've been wanting to talk to that company for a while now. He told me that there's a glass recycler about 40 miles away, and I'll bet he'd donate some powdered glass for us to experiment with. And one of the judges who's from a small Krewe said they might give us some seed money.

It's a great idea, and pretty simple to implement. Plus, some tokens will be sponsored by businesses and you can use them for discounts, but only after Mardi Gras season is over (which helps carry over the positive economic impact of Mardi Gras).
Really, all five ideas were cool, and several offer serious collaboration potential. I want them all to happen.
Wow, for not winning, you kind of won a lot! That's fantastic.
Inorite? Also, the thought just came to me - Kickstarter.
Indeed, smonster!
It sounds like a pretty positive experience all around! Good work!
I got my first gig from a F2F networking thing! WOO, GO ME! A client called me ON THE PHONE.
That is amazing to me. The PHONE. Whodathunkit?
Yay, Erin! Fabulousness.
Erin, I really liked your email blast this morning. Major Yay on both counts.
Again, I just love your 'voice.'
