Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I love how seriously the Flash is listening. And I love that the kid went to him because he knew him. And he does! And he helped him! Love.

In completely other news, I am waiting for the hummingbird wars on my back fence to subside so that I can bring in the feeder and clean and refill it. But since I'm paying attention, while sitting at my office desk, I have noticed that there is far more extensive strategy going on than I have hitherto understood.

There's your basic bomb and dive attack, your flank counter and followup drive off. But the best methodology I've seen yet was one small black-chinned hummingbird who sat on the chain link fence near, but not at, the feeder perch. Then when he was inevitably attacked, he bobbed so that the attacker had to fly up to avoid hitting the fence, which gave him enough time to get to the perch and get his drink before his attacker could recover from the feint and return.

This is an eight port feeder, so theoretically all of the hummingbirds currently battling could sit nicely and feed together, but they won't, thus providing me with hours of aerial entertainment. And also making me afraid to go get the feeder until it's empty.

Last year I had it hung higher, above the fence, so it was used less in combat strategies. But this year it also means they sit on the fence a lot, giving me a much better view.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Scrappy always looks fab if you ask me. You got outer beauty to match your inner beauty!

And I am joining the chorus reminding ita to actually eat something. Food is good.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I want the Fringe division to investigate something that the Winchesters are also investigating.

I think that fic exists. I haven't read it, but I remember seeing a description for that crossover.

Okay, I have retrieved the feeder. It is soaking and I am boiling water for the new nectar. If I am still here in ten minutes please yell at me to check on the water. I have been really bad lately about leaving the pot on the stove to boil endlessly for the hummingbird juice. I guess because it's something I'm doing in the kitchen at non-kitchen times. Anyway. Don't let me forget.

(eta: now the hummingbirds are indignant at the sudden lack of a feeder. inexplicable! unacceptable!)

HMOG. The world damn well better not end on the 21st. Otherwise, I'll miss this: Food Truck Rally!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I don't think I'm at risk for being Raptured, so I may see you at the food truck rally, Tom.

Art Crawl!!!

People have left my office. . . for the most part. But seriously: it looks pretty dark.

Uh oh - somebody walked past and said a new round of tornadoes is coming through.
