Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ants? Traps.

Wow, Table Talk shutting down bums me out, too!

I got my new glasses in the mail! I know the are objectively 90% identical to my old ones, but I still think they look weird. I even took cell phone pictures to show you people, but even I could barely tell which was which in the photos. So I guess I'll keep them. They are weirdly sharper than my old ones, which I think is good, just needs getting used to.

Hmm. The FAQ says it's safe around pets, so...I think I'm going to the store.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Seconding the Terro rec. It's the only thing that's worked for us, and we've sprayed and used traps--always go back to the Terro.

Matt's right: Terro is the best.

Steph, sounds like Apple's giving you the same story I got from T-Mobile when UPS left my expensive new smartphone on the front stoop, where it was stolen. It took me 90 minutes on the phone with customer service, and threatening to cancel my membership entirely, to get them to send me a new phone.

At one point they were going to make me wait six weeks to ensure that I wasn't using the phone myself...

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

sounds like Apple's giving you the same story I got from T-Mobile when UPS left my expensive new smartphone on the front stoop, where it was stolen.

Were you able to track it prior to theft, though? Because the UPS tracking number Apple gave me has given me the same message for 6 days: "A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated."

Which I took to mean they have not gotten the package to ship. And Apple can see that status. It's not like UPS says they have it, or delivered it, or anything. They're saying they never got it.

Grumble.

ION, on the ant front: good way to kill a bunch of ants all at once -- take a long piece of tape (packing tape, duct tape, whatever) and squoosh them. It's surprisingly satisfying, in a Plants vs. Zombies way.

We have traps now, and I made a concoction with borax and sugar, which the ants outside are chowing down on, hopefully to take back to their mansion and kill everyone else.

Fucking bugs.

Yup.

Your message is weird: it really looks like UPS never picked up the shipment from Apple.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Found a couple of ants in the cats' water bowl. Hope there aren't more of them.... (the stink bugs are annoying enough)

That's why I'm honked off at Apple. That message is pretty clear that it wasn't delivered, to anyone.

I'm assuming it'll get sorted out eventually, but I'm supremely annoyed in the meantime.

Yeah, you have every right to be righteously miffed.
