And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I am totally willing to share responsibility, but I hate that knee-jerk "not my fault" thing! It is partly her fault, and anyway, would you say that to your boss!

Even if it was ENTIRELY your fault (which it wasn't), she'd still be responsible for redoing it. Because you're her boss and you TOLD HER TO.

Yeah, wow, that's quite an attitude to have.

I am occasionally astonished at the level of True Stupidity people can exhibit.

My case study is for a report that had a table in it. I told the junior staffer who was making the corrections to change the table so that the names down the left side were in alphabetical order.

She did so: but she only re-sorted that column. So that all the rest of the data in the table was now out of order.

She was 25 years old and had a master's degree from a well-respected university.

This was years ago; to this day, I can't believe it.

Oh, stupidity! I can play!

At the moment there is a sign in the lobby that reads: "Dontation's for victim's of the recent tornados"

And we have a case of plagiarism where a student copied out of a study guide into a paper. For a class taught by a judge.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

This student is leaving in one week, so I am not too worried about it. I am glad to know that I am not crazy, though!

This was a weird situation because she was recommended to my boss and she and my boss get on very well (boss finds her very professional) and she is graduating with a master's degree. My boss is very team oriented (she is always telling me she is not my boss, we are part of a team). Of course, she also issued a written warning when she thought I wasn't actually treating her with respect, so....

not your mom's socks.

Aw! I want Philadelphia Perkins.

I'm kind of amused by the stupid, but still trying to come up with smart for Allyson.

Lisah the wedding photos (and the folks in them) are gorgeous.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I recently told my 25 year old former minion that she needs to take the job search process more seriously than any assignment at work, after she had fucked up a couple of things requested by people she was interviewing with, and she told me she hadn't been! But was going to start.

Dude. I don't understand how a person even needs to be taught that.

she had fucked up a couple of things requested by people she was interviewing with

Guess she doesn't really want a job, then?

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Speaking of job searches, I just heard back from the feds regarding my application for the VA hospital librarian job. Apparently, I am "qualified," but not being referred to the employing agency because I'm not "highly qualified." They'll only get back to me if the employer doesn't find someone in this first round of interviews.

Can't say I'm surprised (I don't have the MLS yet, after all), but am a bit bummed. At least I've got my resume overhauled and have started looking, so that's something.

This is what I'm saying! And also, as it turned out, what the people hiring were saying. So she didn't get the jobs.
