I hate to break it to you, oh impotent one, but you're not the big bad anymore, you're not even the kind of naughty.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I just checked in with her. They ended up flying to Oklahoma City because the flooding in Arkansas was going to be too bad to drive through. She's back at work in Nashville, and her DH is still in OKC with family.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Thanks for checking, amyth! Do we have anyone else along the Mississippi? MtBF, you're around Memphis, yeah? But I know I've seen you posting, so I'm assuming you at least aren't totally underwater. Anyone else?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

You're right, it is Nashville. Sorry, worrying instincts took over.

Matt's near Memphis though.

(ETA: Or, what Amy said.)

Because books.

I think tiggy is in Nashville, too.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'm about 70 miles from Memphis, and up on Crowley's Ridge, so no direct flooding fears. But I can't easily travel an hour either way to see relatives thanks to flood dangers in between.

I think Dcp is still in the western half of the state, but it's much more hilly on that side so danger should be restricted to river valleys.

Glad to hear that you and the relatives are safe - but I hate it that you can't get to them. Hope everything is normal-ish soon.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I totally have a type.

I have two. Dark-haired, makeup-wearing, probably a musician, would probably look good as a vampire (see: Adam Ant, Nikki Sixx, Gerard Way, and most of my ex-boyfriends), or tall, British, and with a side of possible brooding. (See: Christopher Lee, David Bowie, Peter Murphy, and that guy I married).

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

The type thing: It's not real specific. I love writers, though. I think I'd be worried if I ever really got my ideal man...he's anti-social in one way or another and deeply fucked up...the silver-tongued devil type. Women: I like the tough ones. Faith, Pink...although I'd absolutely get with Joan if I could. Love redheads, and her mouth absolutely gives me dirty thoughts all day long.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Insofar as I have a type, I married him: brown hair, boyish good looks, geeky. That doesn't describe every person I've been with, but it does capture the shared qualities amongst most of my crushes.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Thanks for asking after me, Dana! Like amyth said, we ended up flying instead of driving when we realized how ridiculously long the trip would be with the flooding in Arkansas. I got back to Nashville last night, and DH is still in OKC with his family, probably coming home tomorrow. His grandmother is still with us, though it's clear the end is near. We actually had a really nice visit with M's mom and spent some quality time with his grandmother, reading to her, telling her about our upcoming honeymoon, telling her how much we loved her. M's brother's girlfriend came out as well, and it was so good to see her again and find out how she's doing (as well as can be hoped, it seems).

Re: having a type, I don't seem to have much of a physical type, but I dated three guys with the same birthday (including the one I married).
