I Yarn-Bombed This
An artist crocheted an entire apartment.
Her largest installation to date is a fifteen-by-fourteen-foot studio apartment, wherein every wall, picture frame, television, and toilet is wrapped in its own custom sweater. Originally stitched in Olek’s own Park Slope apartment, the crocheted mini-universe is currently exhibiting at Christopher Henry Gallery in Nolita, where it will remain until May 28.
Yeah, I just ordered three things from Amazon to get the free shipping, and they are each coming separately.
I probably shouldn't start screaming OH MY GOD STOP BEING SO STUPID at work people, should I?
And so I'm defeating the saving money purpose by adding an item almost as expensive as the current contents of my shopping cart, but in my defense I do need it and it's very pretty.
Probably not Perkins, but it would be entertaining.
I am having a low self-esteem day and cannot think of anything to do to help. WAH! pity party over here.
You might scare the wimmin, Perkins.
Scrappy, I'm so sorry to hear about your MiL--that's an awfully debilitating assortment of injuries to deal with for a long period of healing. Does she live alone?
I'm still sporfling over VEGAN, but I'm not touching the bagels argument. Does they qualify if you make them yourself? Including boiling, then baking?
I want to report my students' grades and then go home. But I can't do that until the scantron scores from the final exams come back. I am getting so bored with waiting. I had to come in early today (well, early-ish) to deal with some issues with various students and their grades, and then sat while a student took an hour to make up an exam he missed months ago, then walked downtown to go out to lunch, then browsed a toy store to try to find a baby gift for a friend (what on earth do you get for someone who just had her fifth kid? They have all the baby stuff they could ever possibly need), and now I'm back in my office and waiting.
what on earth do you get for someone who just had her fifth kid?
Gin.
Or, you know, gift certificate for a mani/pedi.
Luckily, my MiL not only lives with my FiL, but she lives very near my SiL, who happens to be a nurse.
In regard to the croched apartment - I once saw an article about a woman who beaded an entire kitchen - every surface was covered with beads. Later she did a car - an older model with tailfins. Her name was ... Liza Lou, I think?
And Tommy, there's also a paint that makes your walls into blackboards. MAGNETIC blackboards. Ridiculously expensive also.
Stupid cow-irker trick of the day - our ED's assistant e-mailed everyone asking for our base hours (which always reminds me of the old cartoon with the caption, "since we started having flexible hours we haven't been able to find yours"). I promptly replied with my base hours; then I got the e-mail from her saying that we should send the info to our supervisors, who would compile the information from their staff members and pass them on; then she called me asking what my hours were. grrrr
