Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Bilateral asymmetry!

One of my ears is higher and more prominent, too. Now that my face is fuller with the weight gain and softer with age, it's not as noticeable, but when I was younger and more bony, when I was tired I looked like a stroke victim. One eye is sunk deep with a puffy upper lid, the other has a visible crease below the brow bone; one is round-shaped, the other is almond-shaped. I taught the lower eyebrow to fly by practicing in a mirror. I corrected my lopsided smile and learned to cover my gums when I smiled by hours of practice and checking in the mirror. I used makeup to minimize the difference in features on either side of my face. My nose is straight, but one nostril flares much more than the other, and the upper lip is thinner on that side. Theatrical makeup classes led to intense scrutiny and awareness, and correction attempts.

H used to sit and gaze at my face, with an intensity that suggested he was taking mental notes. When I asked him why he was looking at me that way, he said, "I love everything about you. But I especially treasure every little way your face is unique and individual, because it's *your* face. And I love your face."

I learned to love my bilateral asymmetry. Though I'm still aware of it when I need glasses fitted.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Why I'm so sleepy, I don't know.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Wow, Bev, that's a fascinating insight into so many aspects of your life. Story of a Face indeed.

As I scroll through various news headlines I keep hitting variations on "Pakistan Warns U.S. Against Further Attacks on Pakistani Soil."

And I keep having the same involuntary reaction: "Pfft."

After either the Pakistani government's (a) massive incompetence, or (b) damning complicity (most likely) they're pretty fucking lucky Team Six didn't bitch slap every member of their cabinet on the way out.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

My cat just got diagnosed with hyperthyroid and had all those symptoms (weight loss, hunger, fur). He's been on meds since Feb and has gained about 2 lbs and his fur look shiny and pretty.

Kittenish just got her most recent labs back today and she's doing great. We've been treating her thyroid for six years. She's plump and sassy right now with gorgeous fur.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Can anyone take a look at my resume?

I hadn't really looked at it in years, and I really pared it down to just the relevant library experience. Now, it looks really bare. I need someone to tell me if I should add the two years I worked at the circulation desk in college back in 1986-88, or if that's too piddly for what I need. I've got three other jobs listed, including my current one.

I am in such a goddamned foul mood. I guess that's what two days of staring at code and this crash timeline have wrought.

And I'm supposed to go out tonight. I'd beg off, but it is just the two of us and we've had the plans for a while.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My students finished their final exams. Tomorrow I have to post their grades. I have a headache and a sore throat and I'm getting sick.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm beating myself up about work stuff it's waaaaay too late to do anything about.

I vote wine.
