Wash: I didn't think you were one for rituals and such. Mal: I'm not, but it'll keep the others busy for a while. No reason to concern them with what's to be done.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The top 40 station here was playing "patriotic" songs this morning. I tuned in just as "Proud to Be An American" was ending, and then "Born in the USA" started. They keep playing that song. I do not think it means what they think it means.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My understanding is that a sea burial was the only way to both honor Muslim tradition and avoid creating a martyr's tomb.

[eta: "only way" is probably overstating it, but that is the reasoning I've heard.]

“Not dead yet!”

There was also another Fox affiliate where the broadcaster actually said "President Obama has confirmed that President Obama is, in fact, dea- oh, sorry."

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

DavidS, or anyone else who knows: In the TV movie "Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe", Bruce Campbell played a Navy SEAL, and he is repeatedly called "soldier", even by his fellow officers. Is that accurate?

Huh, I'd think "sailor" but I'm not sure.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Barb,

yeah that was the Fox affiliate in DC. His co-anchor looked at him like he lost his mind.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So it looks like Pakistan did not in fact give him up, but rather obstructed U.S. efforts to get him. The U.S. did not even tell Pakistani officials about the raid beforehand.
