Our wings are not tired.

All you have to do is a Google search of "Tigers Hos" and you'll see scads and scads of evidence of the women being degraded and Tiger being regaled.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I found "male slut" and Tiger in the same sentence. A lot. That article is hysterical. I was pretty sheltered, I guess, because that's the sort of stuff I read about him.

I'm not at all saying that people don't think promiscuity is more natural and esteemable for men than for women. Just that I don't think I personally know anyone that thought Tori was more shocking than Tiger. And I saw Cibriani get the same tarnishing as Lee Ann, within his relatively smaller sphere.

Ever send off an email and think "That was good. I should stop working now. Nothing else I do is gonna be that good."

It's possible I'm thinking wishfully.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

The tornado footage and statistics are just appalling, and boggling for sheer scale. How can anybody look at global weather patterns over the last ten years alone, the devastation and changes in surface terrain, in weather patterns, and claim not to believe in global climate change? That's some pretty fancy sand they're sticking their heads in.

What Bev said.

I have so much Facebook political debate trauma, I actually said to one of my friends the other day, "I strive to be as bland and uninteresting as possible on Facebook these days. I hope you've noticed!" But Allyson and others, I admire you for continuing to engage.

Bev, I'm holding my nails up to the pictures, and they look most like Mermaid to Order. I know it's not Austin-tatious, because I remember looking at that and thinking about it and putting it back. Thanks for the links!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

...or let's look at Cibriani, who didn't seem to be treated much differently from Lee Ann.

I judge him more harshly than her, as he was the one who had children with the spouse he was cheating on. But neither of them retained any respect from me.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I think I would only use the term slut for someone who tries to sleep with attached people or just throws themselves at people constantly.

lightbulb goes off with an audible ding

Ah-ha! Thank you, msbelle, for articulating the vague thoughts I had about this discussion. I will now go back to using the term slut as a pejorative, and mostly applied to only one person I know. Who is male.

has me wondering if there's a difference between being slutty and being a hussy

(not that I think either of these words is OK to use perjoratively, but I would totally use either jokingly with my friends) I think slut is just easy, and hussy puts it out there and works for it. :)

Aha! What's a tramp, then?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I could never figure out what made the Lady a tramp (in the song of that title).
