I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I think I would only use the term slut for someone who tries to sleep with attached people or just throws themselves at people constantly.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Huh. I kind of forgot that slut was a pejorative. It's just sort of free-lovey, yay!sex in my head.

Such a bubble I live in.

Heh. I'm reminded of the last drag conference--someone had the idea to buy those shiny stars, and declared green was if you were open to anything, yellow (gold) if you were limited/could only make out, and red if you were in a relationship. My friend Dana and I were like "but what about the silver stars?" (the only color left after that, but not assigned a status). We decided the silver stars were the slutty stars, and many people glommed on to that idea.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Yipes, too many tornadoes! I found the footage Hayden linked to too scary to watch all the way through. So upsetting.

It's hard for someone inclined to use the word "slut" to really consider whether those numbers consist of guys that were well-chosen. The denotation is lots of guys. The connotation is indiscriminate.

I'm loving on bon bon's brain right now.

WRT the slut conversation, ita, I'm wondering why you want to apply the term slut to yourself. What gives?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't have an inherently negative association with the term. If you apply it to people who sleep with other people they barely know/just met, well, that's me.

OK, I can see that. So that's why you were asking which was the most relevant criteria, numbers or discrimiting taste?

Ugh. I just don't like the term slut I guess. I never much cottoned to the reclaiming of cunt either.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I have heard the term male slut pretty regularly.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I do use the word "slutty" but more as a modifier than as a descriptor. For example, I wouldn't call a woman slutty for sleeping with a number of men indiscriminately. But I would definitely describe Johnny Thunders' guitar sound as slutty: cheaply appealing, dirty, aggressive, squawking.

Hayden, I'm sorry to hear about your friends and old neighborhood getting so buffetted by the twisters. Keep your head down, buddy.

No, it was because I saw a discussion everywhere where a guy was being lambasted (in absentia) for calling women sluts because they'd slept with a large number of people. And I disagreed-he was calling them sluts because they slept with people he disapproved of. Now, still a douchewad, but just a different argument.

The application of it to me was just because Jesse pretty much called out my sex life in precise words.

I have heard the term male slut pretty regularly.

In my experience, Jimmy's just been called a slut on rare occasions, but never a male slut. Just a slut, *if* he's being judged for sleeping around and around.
