The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

YAY msbelle!

My boss is going to let me go home before my doctor's appointment, to attempt to start the day over. And to get my wallet, which I hope is at home, since it's not with me.

Because books.

Yay for plumbing snakes and recovering dads and business plans and 25 hours a week!

Less yay for Suzi's ick and Perkins's bad Monday, though.

It's almost 80 degrees here, and I'm in a sleeveless top with all the windows open. It's really hard to concentrate on writing when I want to go lie in the sun.

I have put in 4 hours of work. I think it is nap time and then I'll do another 4.

ION, I'm all pissed off at work and don't know what to do.

One of the projects I was hired to accomplish has been stalled out for 18 years. The other parties to the project are understandably peeved, so they've been bringing political pressure to bear on my organization to make the project happen. As I was hired to accomplish this project (among others), I've been using that political pressure to encourage us to spend the money to get it done.

As part of the reorganization, I'm going to be assigned a new supervisor, who I shall call Eeyore. I've worked with Eeyore since I got here, but it's always been a trial, because he has other priorities, and doesn't want to spend staff or financial resources on my projects. And now he's going to be my boss in a couple of months.

In an email I sent on Thursday, I noted that we are in part responsible for the long delay on this project, and it would benefit everyone were we to agree to commit to doing the work, so the politics don't blow up in our face. I sent the email to the Big Boss and a bunch of other people, including Eeyore.

Eeyore replied to everyone, and in the middle of his email, called me out for blaming him for all the delays. By name. Twice.

My future boss.

Which, you know, he is in part to blame: he makes a lot of the decisions about how money and staff get prioritized. But I would never say that to the Big Boss. It's tacky, and it's hella complicated getting funding and support for this shit. I know it's not entirely his fault.

ARGH. I don't want to make a big thing of this, but I'm getting really anxious about when I am rehired and the reorg is complete. I don't actually look forward to having to advocate for my own projects with my direct supervisor thinking that my doing so is undercutting his position.

This is too much Monday for me.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

only intended for use by people who have no other way of proving citizenship.

Aha - that actually makes some amount of sense.

ION, my chile con carne waffle from the Wafel truck is pretty frelling awesome. (I am so happy to be working in a neighborhood with food trucks, you all have NO IDEA. At my old office they never came that far west.)

(It's a Belgian-style corn waffle with chili, cheese, sour cream, and cilantro on top. That this food exists AT ALL is cause for no small amount of celebration.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Ergh, 'Suela. That is not cool.

Congrats msbelle!

That passport form is crazy. I'm sure I've had well over 25 addresses and god knows how many temporary employers. However, if they can hook me up with a way to contact my dead mother for all the information related to her, I'm down with it. @@.

I hate it when this country make me happy that I have two passports “just in case.”

That sounds dire, Conseula.

OTOH, Jessica's waffle sounds splendid.

::sigh::

Ah, well, I have leftover sort-of-pasta carbonara for lunch. (I sauteed green beans with sausage and tossed that with the pasta before adding in the lemon-and-egg mixture. Yummy.)

That sounds dire, Conseula.

Yeah. I just don't see how it's going to work, frankly. Eeyore doesn't even want me doing the projects I've been hired to do: he wants me on other stuff. And although I keep bringing this up, nobody involved in the reorganization is willing to consider putting me anywhere else. Bah.

I can't figure out if it's worth replying to that email. ::sigh::

I'm beginning to wonder how long it is until Eeyore retires. He's not young.
