It helps to hear the songs in context, I think. The point of "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist" is that these characters are actually pretty terrible people, not that the show is endorsing their POV.
(Ok, I may not have thought that when I first saw the show in 2001, but now that I'm no longer the same age as the main character, seeing the show again made me realize what a complete douchenozzle he is. Kate Monster too!)

I totally understand why "Everyone's a little bit racist" is infuriating - i want to argue with it, too. It still amuses me, but I will sure never sing it to ita. I hate the whole Lucy the Slut subplot, unsurprisingly.
Except I like hugs, can strike from hugs, and know defenses against hugs. It's not surefire.
