It depends on the credit union. The one I previously belonged to started out as an "education" credit union and only teachers, students, or school employees (and their immediate family) could join. But then it changed and anyone living or working in the county and a few surrounding counties could join.
But in that town there were credit unions from the university employees, state employees and a few others.
The current one I'm to belong you have to live, work, worship, or attend school in one of 6 counties.
However once you are member of a credit union you can stay a member even if you move out of the area.
Here's a website with more info about credit unions and how to find ones in your area [link]
ita, this made me think of you. [link]

It's more distressing to me that someone apparently showed the shopped one *to* Ackles.
The heat came on. Hi, fall.

Oh, my. I think... I don't want to see that.

::facepalm::
Poor man. No one deserves that.
Hey, I found that show that John Noble is narrating, Dark Matters! It's sort of cool.
So. My date.
Friday we had the best Hawaiian pizza ever. Saturday we drove to Mobile--the
USS Alabama
was awesome! Then we had amazing BBQ pork and went to a restaurant/bar to see Sugarcane Jane play. (They're a country/rock band from Florida, fronted by a husband and wife team with absolutely amazing harmonies.) Monica (my date) is a big fan of Alabama football, as is everyone down there, so there weren't too many people there to see the show. So we watched this amazing concert while watching Alabama play Florida on the TV, which also was awesome. The husband and wife of Sugarcane Jane came to talk to us, and Monica bonded with the wife. (Monica is going to take her yarn shopping when Sugarcane Jane play Tuscaloosa in two weeks.) Anthony Crawford (the husband) has played with a shitload of great performers, including Neil Young, so they did a lot of Neil Young covers. Great fun.
Then we went back to the hotel, where Monica had booked us separate rooms. We watched the end of the Alabama/Florida game, which ended with Alabama kicking Florida's ass. We hugged... and continued hugging for a while. And it turned out we only needed one room.
I am tired but happy, somewhere in Tennessee. Oh, and apparently I'm now in a long-distance relationship. I'm going to drive down to Tuscaloosa again in November, and Monica is going to spend part of her Christmas break in Chicago with me.
