Thanks for the support, guys. The re-org makes sense in that Minneapolis is our headquarters and he is located there and that I already mentioned that we would need another HR assistant in that office in the future.
However, I have always reported to the person in charge and now I won't anymore. I just feel bad and passed-over. I feel like I'm 55 years old and now I have to face the fact that I'm just another middle-aged HR person. I feel ordinary and dull and not even successful in a stupid HR job. I feel that I thought I was way more interesting and skilled than I actually am.
I will get over this--it just has me bummed right now.
I'm having a lot of trouble putting "Scrappy" and "ordinary and dull" into the same sentence.
At the risk of triggering were-monkey-related flashbacks, here's a story of a years-long pseuicide online:

I feel ordinary and dull
At the risk of gaslighting you, Scrappy, you are neither!
I have considered putting up a website called "Someone is wrong on the internet," where one can go post about people being wrong on the internet without having to actually interact with the stupid people.
But how would you keep the stupid people out?
I feel that I thought I was way more interesting and skilled than I actually am.
I feel that this is crazy talk. You are incredibly interesting and skilled!
But how would you keep the stupid people out?
You have pointed out the essential problem. Perhaps there needs to be a quiz to log in.
Happy Birthday, Mathilda!
And how exciting both Amy and Kate! Totally different types of great news.
And I'm sorry Scrappy. That sounds discouraging but I hope it works out okay in practice.
Amy, I'm so happy that Stephen has a good new job! And Kate, it's great that you were able to see the developing sprog.

XKCD suggested that but can't find that one offhand.
You are incredibly interesting and skilled!
This! I'm sorry the job bullshit is making you feel that is not true right now.
Amy, so exciting about Stephen's job! WOOT! And also a big woot for Kate sprog! Exciting good stuff!!!
