Because books.

She is so cute. When I came home, she had just gotten out of the shower, and she was very excited to tell me she had put the water on All By Herself, and adjusted the temp, and washed her own hair, and then turned it off and got out All By Herself, too. (And she was actually clean, and shampoo free!)

I got a little melty, although I'm sure the two beers helped.

Way to go, Sara! I am impressed, because I remember my first attempt at my own shower, and it did not go well. There may have been tears. In my defense, it was a weird shower that had side spigots and the top shower head, and it was complicated, and there was water coming from every direction, and I was short, and, and... yes, it traumatized me.

Ahem, sorry. Let's get back to, yay, Sara!

No, although someone mentioned that. It's just called Philly Lit Night, and like I said, there is not a lot of talk of writing involved. Some, but it's generally at the very start of the get-together, and even then it's more, "How's everyone's work coming along, any news to report," that kind of thing.

I just looked up the Liars Club. They're fairly serious about themselves, yes?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Had a nice day. Met some friends for lunch and a museum. Went to my brother's place to see him and his family. Tomorrow we meet some other friends for lunch, and take a 6 pm train back home.

Trust my rage

I have had serious adobe/lion problems which has led me to research a bunch on Lion compatibility. I think the thing with Quicken was - some (or all?) older versions of Quicken would no longer work. There is a new version that does work with Lion, but it doesn't have all the features that the old one did (like something about tracking investments that I skimmed).

So, if your needs are basic, there is no Lion/Quicken problem. But if you are using an older version or care about some special, but maybe important features, beware.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I've got 10+ years of Quicken records, so it's important to me. But no investment (ha!) tracking, so I'm probably OK.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So I would feel more virtuous about getting up this morning for the walk, except that one of the women I was at dinner with last night is I think already in the midst of the triathlon she's doing today.

Jesse - getting up is very virtuous! See also, moving about.

For Jilli - wish the teleporter worked: A local museum here has Bram Stoker's original research notes and outlines for Dracula and has a heap of events each October for Dracfest [link]

They're a fun bunch. I can vouch for most of them.

It's just called Philly Lit Night

ah! Sounds fun!

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Female protesters getting maced by police at Occupy Wall Street protest: [link] It's hard with these little clips to get any context, but it's hard to see what could have legitimately provoked the use of mace in this instance.
