Willow: Something evil-crashed to earth in this. Then it broke out and slithered away to do badness. Giles: Well, in all fairness, we don't really know about the "slithered" part. Anya: No, no, I'm sure it frisked about like a fluffy lamb.

Our wings are not tired.

Allyson, what a terrifying experience! I am glad you're okay and that the guy went to prison.

I just read that Texas is also executing someone today. One of the men who dragged that poor man to his death in Texas in the late 90's. Interestingly enough, Byrd's (the victim) son doesn't believe in the death penalty, says life in prison for the criminal would have been enough.

I am a note writing fool today. I really should do it more often. Before there is no postal delivery at all.

Trust my rage

Byrd's murder is the kind of thing that could almost make me support the death penalty. But not quite. Oddly enough, I would totally vote for jury nullification in a vengeance/murder type situation (probably) but I am not okay with the state executing people.

Yes, state-sanctioned killing makes me deeply uncomfortable. But especially so when someone's innocence is possible.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Meh, it was so long ago. I punched pillows for a long time in anger, but that stopped. When i got to the hospital the attending doctor asked me if I had tried to kill myself. I told him what happened, and he asked, "well why aren't there any police here, then?"

Today's Allyson would have had entirely different responses to the attending doctor, which would have included getting his name and writing to the hospital's chief of staff. There may also have been stabbity stab stab.

Instead, I just said, "if I was trying to kill myself, I would have been going faster than 20 miles per hour."

"Asshole" was implied.

Oh man, Allyson, that makes me rage so hard.

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad you were believed, and I'm glad that you made it out of the car safely.

haven't I told you guys all this before? Gah. We've been here so many years I forget. Maybe there should be a dossier thread.

I think Hec keeps that.

Though I would be tempted to put all kinds of crazy stuff in mine. "has moves like Jagger, will cut a bitch, partied with the supreme court"...random stuff.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I think you told us this a LOOOONG time ago, before many Buffistas were around. It is a horrifying yet inspiring story and am glad you shared it again now. Because you rock, is the main thing.
