Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
I think it helps that they know who the mother is and aren't sure about the father. Sure, baseless gossip is kind of their stock in trade, but unwed mothers are severe low-hanging fruit.

I suppose it is rumor about Jones' baby daddy, but I thought it was a well-known/well-accepted rumor. When I heard about it last May or so, I understood it to be confirmed. But I suppose Jones hasn't said anything herself.
Vaugn didn't do any publicity for the movie and canceled all interviews (from what I recall).
