that isn't it exactly. spoilers for the end of the movie: The catalyst is really a big pharma company who is clearcutting a forest, which drives bats to a particular part of the region with pig farms. The bats' partially eaten food is eaten by the pigs. The virus' origin is bat AND pig.

I started sneezing in the theater. P looked over at me and then I had to try and stop laughing too.
Allyson, My take on it is that humans cause it because we never consider consequences of things like destroying habitat. And forget that, to viruses, we're just made of meat.
I need to get my flu shot.
