oh, god, I want funnel cake . . . The Utah State Fair is going right now, but I can't get up there. Piffle.
edit: what an odd typo, Farm for Fair. I wonder if we do have a State Farm.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

OH! Anyone want to buy a house 2 doors down? Found out it was listed Friday, after almost 2 years . At a ridiculous $44K: [link] but given there were at least 4 showings today, I suspect there will be a bit of a bidding war. It's a foreclosure that has HUD notices posted on the door. Not sure what kind of shape it is in, being shut up for 2 years. I think the kitchen is fancier than mine, but it does need some tlc (and the carpets ripped up!)
We (went to dinner with the neighbors) all freaked out about the asking price, but my guess it is basically a firesale by the city/state/feds. We joked about pooling together and buying it ourselves. Like any of us need another project house.
I found all of this out because I ran into a realtor showing it. I TOTALLY talked up the hood: the blizzard cleanup, keeping those properties cleaned up while vacant, how we market together, the power outage and how we all hung out, trade advice on the upkeep, etc etc. Apparently, several other neighbors did the same with the other showings. We're funny like that.
Add to that the other vacant was bought by these folk [link] and it looks like we won't have empties much longer.
Ginger! Insent with an explanation!
shrift, insent in a moment about tacos!
A piece on the founder of St. Ambrose: [link] Former priest, married to an ex-nun. And yeah, they met while still under vows.

We are going to eat ALL of the food!
YES WE ARE!
One of my coworkers just got back from Kauai, and gave me a menu for another place he really liked.
OMG, I have to NEVER EVER BUY the TJ's chocolate-covered almonds with sea salt. A friend brought some over last night, and D & I splurged and ordered a PPV movie (watched Thor, prepping for Avengers -- fun!) and we ate the rest of the 3/4 full container.
I could eat another container now, I swear.
Needless to say, I did NOT go for the brownie.

I have more than one promises that start exactly this way. Because if I buy x, I eat ALL of the x.
My current TJ fav is a dark chocolate bar with toffee walnuts and black salt. Egad, sooo gooood. But I hear they are discontinuing them, so I am buying up many of them now, while they are still around. As good as Voseges (or whatever those fancy chocolates are) but seriously 1/3rd the cost.
Valrhona? Nom.
As soon as the Christmas assortment chocolate-covered JoJos come in, I'm buying at least six boxes. Maybe a dozen. Crack, I tell you. And almond bark.
