"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

ita,

I LOVE your mother's hair. Where does she have it done?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

She doesn't wear it like that any more, LeN. The sista locks were really high maintenance. She wears a low afro now. But she did rock the look. And get mistaken for Toni Morrison all the time. Which she worked the hell out of.

Because books.

I was trying to think who she reminded me of there. Bingo.

I like that silver dress, ita. Very pretty.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Oh, and today is protective footwear day!

Dammit! The one day this week I'm in training and wearing sandals. But I'm researching protective toe guards online right now (AIFannoying), does that count? My boots are in my car.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I always use the green one, but I'm very very pink, so for me it makes a difference.

Does it really not make you look, y'know, green? I'm very pink, but I can't fathom smearing green stuff on my face and coming out normal.

No, not green at all. Unless you were putting it on in VAST quantities. Plus the intent is you put foundation over it (though I often wear it alone)

I like a lot of my clothes, but I like nothing more than that dress. It was...I had to buy it, and I had to find occasions to wear it. It's just fabulous. I hope to be able to wear it for a while more.

I feel like I'm leaving my father out. He was very cute that night too.

My sister wasn't there, but this is what she looks like now. It's her birthday, BTW.

You of all people! I thought you were an, ahem, shoe-in!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I've got a totally random "Ask an average hearing person" question, to try to settle a point in my Deaf Culture class: Do you know what the phrases "Deaf President Now" or "Deaf Protest of 1988" refer to, without looking it up? (Some people are arguing that this event had a huge impact on how hearing people think about deaf people. The general sense that I've gotten is that most hearing people don't even remember it.)

I only know because I took four semesters of sign at Gallaudet. :)
